Labor Relations Board investigating NFLPA

...based on a complaint from the league (USA Today)

Decertified or not, the NFL Players Association might still be subject to action by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), stemming from an unfair labor practices charge by the NFL.

As the NFLPA disclaimed its interest as a collective bargaining agent when labor talks collapsed Friday, effectively becoming a trade association, the NFL amended its previous charge by filing with the NLRB's Region 2 office in New York.

The gist of the NFL's charge is that the NFLPA has unfairly used decertification as a negotiating strategy for securing a better labor deal. "We're not a union anymore," president Kevin Mawae said Monday. "So any case before the NLRB is trumped by our decertification. So it doesn't matter."

Not true, according to NLRB spokesperson Nancy Cleeland. "It doesn't change what (allegedly) happened," Cleeland told USA TODAY on Tuesday. "The charge is still being investigated. By (the NFL) amending the charge, obviously, they still think it's live."

The former NFLPA guys think nothing will come of it, but for the moment it's in play.

This is definitely one thing Obama would be willing to fix.

Good lord lets hope not. We might end up with touch soccer. Before tailgating, fans would be mandated by the gubment to pick up and drop players off at the stadium in tax funded hybrid minivans.

Snake_Fist has it right. 5 years is plenty for that ass clown Dmo Smith. Players and their reps are a joke.

    • Was just explaining this to some dummy named Willy in another thread. I think he was just smoking’ too much cheese.  This has been going on for ages. Trent dilfer got all the ladies and threw just as many TDs as interceptions. This was the more violent era of football. The soft mfrs wanna see the passing TDs but the truth is that ain’t what ultimately wins football games. It’s a STRONG D, and an unstoppable run game, with some passes to keep the defense honest, if a for a TD great. in fact I would venture to say that the two panthers super bowls consisted of the same except cam threw more tds than interceptions and could run like Jamal Lewis and priest Holmes. its a tale as old as time. Something all ball knowers understand.
    • This team just traded a 2nd round pick for Bradley Chubbs. Edge, Miami Dolphins.
    • Ngl, as good as I felt about us after winning yesterday, when they showed the top NFC teams on SNF, I realized what a crazy year this is.  The NFC seems uncommonly top heavy.  As of today, we aren’t anywhere near playoff positioning, which at 5-4 seems very, very weird compared to most years.  I know things will shake out further as the season goes on and it likely won’t look the same, but I have the feeling it’s one of those years that you’ll need like 11 wins to get in as a wildcard. seems very like a very pantherish thing to rebound this year and that’s what it would take.
