The decision on who they take if will hinge on the results of the private workouts and interviews I suspect. With the measurables of Gabbert and Newton being close and Gabbert's wonderlic being high, you might give him the edge going in. Peterson would have to have red flags about how quick he picks things up. Its likely he wouldn't be called on to call out coverages. Still Newton would have to get the nod when it comes to being cool under pressure and being able to get the job done. His intangibles are very high.

I figure that they will pick whover they think will be the better face of the franchise and who will fill the seats and make Charlotte relevant.

Hell if we are dead set on drafting a qb we mine as well hire VY on the cheap.Good bad and ugly but at least we know he can play at a high level and get rid of him if he does not work out. Maybe we get lucky and the guy matures. At least he can add imediate help if he is mature enough to suck it up and be a man.

Disagree on the last point. I don't think the marketability aspect will factor in at all.

I think we are talking apples and oranges. Your definition of marketability and mine aren't the same. After 2 years of poor attendance outside of Moore's run at the end of 2009, filling the stadium and developing a consistent winner is the number 1 priority. He said if we win, fans will be back. He equates winning with marketability. I think marketability will be a function of how well the 1 pick plays and his ability to the franchise guy down the road.. A franchise quarterback for the Panthers needs to be someone who is not only a good player but involved in the community and a face of the franchise. But ultimately the decision will be if he is a winner. That is why I think it will be Newton.

I agree that winning brings back fans, but that's why you draft the guy who can best help you win, not the one that's the most marketable.

Danica Patrick is extremely marketable. So are Anna Kournikova and David Beckham.

I honestly think that any interest we've shown in these QB's is a bluff meant to lure another team into a trade.

It would be great if that happend. I read about the rumors of the Cards trade (right now I know it not unofficial yet until more & more news break out) & I hope we do that. We could get plenty of great Draft picks from it & more.

I don't think we're happy with what we've got at QB, but I doubt Hurney or Rivera thinks any of these guys are the answer... I'm fully expecting the opening day starter to be a vet that we acquire through FA or a trade, but the lockout could derail that.

This is why I think we need a talent vet QB. Our QBs are too young & our record 2-14 is a sign of it beside injuries & Davidson's playcall.

Given Moore's arm strength and his experience, I wouldn't at all be shocked to see him getting the nod as the opening day starter.

I think Moore is done. I like Moore & all, but he showed he isn't the answer like we was hopping when he took over for an injuried Jake twice. Not to mention he has that shoulder surgery & I think that will have an affect on how he throw it. We need to look elsewhere & let Moore go somewhere else. It funny many said after Jake was release, people keep bragging that Moore is better than Jake but now we see that is a fluke with how he look as a starter. But I'm just saying what happend, that all.

Here's something else I haven't heard discussed very much: I'm assuming the Cards will probably part ways with Derek Anderson, Chud had success with Anderson when they were with the Browns, therefore... Derek Anderson may be a vet QB we target?

Hmmm.....I might be for that. Only if he is cheap & all. And if he bring back that skill he has in the season when he went to the Pro-Bowl.

Why do you keep bringing Vince Young up???? Not only did he quit on his team. He is a F'n looney tune. This is the person you want too lead our team?????

What's the worst that could happen? Other than a shattered locker room and being set back years when we have to draft and develop another QB with no overlap between starters.

Luck doesn't want to play here, if he did he would have jumped at the chance to be #1. Get over it, move on!

Who's he holding out for then? Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, Oakland?

The coach that Vince Young clashed with - and nearly got fired - in Tennessee is an old teammate and colleague of Ron Rivera.

I wouldn't bet on Young being an option here.

As for Luck, his staying in school had nothing to do with the Panthers. That's been confirmed repeatedly,

Beckham is marketable because he is a great player. Patrick is marketable because she is a relatively hot woman in a male dominated sport-Nascar. Kournikova is a good tennis player but best known for her looks not her tennis. I don't think the parallels are similar at all outside of Beckham unless I missed something and Gabbert or Newton are women in disguise. There aren't many football players better known for their looks than their playing ability. Marketability in the NFl is more related to skill and winning than they are to looks and how well they look in a bathing suit .
