I find it interesting they say that wide receiver is one of our most glaring needs..

If Steve Smith leaves......we have 3 sophomore WRs that combined for less than 1000 yards of offense. WR, despite our excitement is normally a 3 yr process and many hopeful stars fizzle along the way. Like a Colbert.

Ugh, so many holes yadda, yadda, yadda...go with a weak QB! All these articles are the same. The Panthers suck so they have to take a QB from a lackluster class, even though the WR, DT and even DB talent is 10x deeper and talented this year.

Yet, it makes perfect sense to go with the glamour QB position with all of these moron sports jounalists.

I don't know why I read all these things.....

they commented there isn't a single strength on the roster? Only someone who doesn't watch Carolina would say that.

A healthy OL and healthy LB corp should be in consideration for best in the NFC.

people flat out don't watch 2 win teams.....and therefore they paint (or in this case, write) with broad and dumb strokes.

Understand what you mean, but the group they have there aren't morons.

I may disagree with them on this point, but all of the guys they have on there are people Id say are worth listening to.

I can see it.

We've got no consistent receivers except Smith. As awesome as he was, it's a fair statement to say his best days are behind him and there's lots of trade talk for him too. If we get a CBA, I'm sure he'll get shopped out.

Still need a QB to throw to whoever they go after though.

I fail to understand your logic here. You are saying that it is stupid to take a QB early in a draft where there aren't many high potential QB's. Instead we should draft a WR, DT, or DB in the first round because there are so many available.

If I felt DT was our biggest need and there were only 2 good looking DT's in this draft THEN I would suggest going for one in the first round. If we needed a QB and there were a large amount of talented QB's then I would assume there would be quality left in the later rounds.

PS In last years draft Dareus would have been lucky to be the 3rd DT taken.

And PP7 would probably not gone before Eric Berry.

Fact is anyone we take at #1 in this draft is a reach.

I don't think Patrick Peterson is.

Dareus? Probably not either, but I'm more sure of Peterson.

    • I don't necessarily think he will be moved, I would currently be leaning against that notion. I think a lot will depend on the coaching situation. Carroll certainly can't be thinking about wanting to go through a serious strip down and overhaul, so the longer he plans to remain, the less likely I think Crosby gets moved.
    • I think everyone says Mike Evans because of size, but really they have different strengths and play styles.  Tmac is better on intermediate routes and not nearly as good at contested catches.
    • At this point, it is criminal to go into the 2026 training camp/OTA's with XL penciled in as a #2 WR. The team must upgrade, either through free agency or the draft. If he cannot give 100% effort on significantly less snaps as a #4-6 WR(players like Tremayne have done that consistently) then I don't think you have a player worth rostering beyond the trade deadline. Offensively, we eventually have to upgrade to an NFL starting caliber C. It's been almost the length of time from Gross to Ikey since Kalil retired and we have below average to terrible C play. Love Mays as a BC-esque utility backup but he will never be an above average long term starting C.  The TE room is one of the worst in the NFL but it's a low usage position in this offense, so the investments are likely to be small, if any. I would never expect to see an elite TE in a Dave Canales offense. 100% agree on OL depth. We actually aren't bad there but BC will be gone, Mays is a UFA, Corbett is a UFA and Zavala has been both injured and bad. We have to bolster that depth again or resign guys like Mays and Corbett to keep that depth somewhat stable.
