I know Christian Ponder looks the part....but was he that guy who freaked out drunk outside of a frat party buck naked and claimed himself to be Jesus Christ???

If it was, that should be the biggest red flag ever.

lmao no that was years ago. as a Fsu fan, that was the funniest thing ever. I believe the kids name was wyatt sexton.

Yea but i don't think weinke's arm was a good as ponders. plus the fact he had zero upside due to the fact he was almost 30 when we drafted him.

Totally disagree. Weinke was known to throw a deep ball with great touch. Given he was 27 and had played pro baseball, he should have had greater poise than Ponder and been more pro ready. It just underlines how hard it is to judge who is going to succeed and who won't.

I can understand that. Not much you can compare of the two. Other than being old,i just can't find a single reason why weinke failed...........

Yeah it couldn't have been him. Must be due to something else. I wonder if the same logic applies to Luck this year.

Depends on who you are comparing Luck to.

There is no doubt that Weinke was on a better team. When you have better talent around you, and better coaching, you can look better. That MIGHT be why he looked better than Ponder. Then again, it MIGHT not be. We will find out if Ponder is indeed a better QB than Weinke was.

    • I don't agree with this, he looks jacked to me.  His frame won't allow him to ever be as big as XL, and that's fine.  He will just have a hard time with press, there are ways to deal with that.
    • that type of QB, especially paired with a weaker NFL arm.....excel with quick game weapons though.   it sounds like you are a big Tmac homer.  I mean, if you are watching every snap he played in college.   So, it's safe to say we likely won't see eye to eye on expectations for year 1.   And my expectations on Tmac aren't all in his control.  As I have also said, elsewhere, this is really year 2 for Bryce.  So I expect the first half of the season to carry healthy odds of a year 2 regression (specifically the first half).  Film, tendencies, and weaknesses in Dave's offense are going to be prepared for.    out of curiosity, what cons to Tmac's game where in the scouting stuff you saw?
    • Maybe a weeeee bit exaggerating. I think he will be a great player. But that doesn’t look like someone that was super committed in the weight room during college which is just a little confusing. Maybe he cut some weight to try and run a better 40. We saw Julio come into the league a little skinnier, get bigger/stronger and really start dominating. Strength and size is important as a big physical x receiver. It’s not so important for the Devonta Smith role
