A.J. Green...Number-1 to Panthers?

I think Gettis is our best WR and the offense he used in college just didn't feature him or any of the WR's really. He's still a little raw, but I think he's a very capable #1.

I'd have no problem drafting Green, he's a freak of an athlete and a natural hands catcher, rarely letting the ball get to his body.

Green, Peterson and Miller are probably the three cleanest, safest picks in the draft.

Gettis has star potential no doubt. Him and Green together would be insane. I still think Smith is the best WR on this team even if we draft Green. If we take him we could put Smith in the slot and run Gettis and Green down field. Smitty will make Welker look like a joke.

If we took Green the potential of our WR core would be pretty insane. Not to mention if Armanti ends up to be half the player that Hurney expects him to be then my eyes might pop out of my head.

No reason to think that Smitty and Rivera don't like each other. I think that they just have an understanding that if Smith wants to leave then Hurney and Rivera will try to honor that.

I like Gettis just as much as the next panther fan, but I think it's a little homerisim saying star potential. If gettis has star potential then I think it's atleast 25 plus Wr's who would fit in that catergory.

When Calvin Johnson came in he showed star potential on the field, randy moss, dez bryant... these guys came in and early you had to gameplan for them... some even with below average QB's... That's star potential IMO.

So the latest mock has us taking Green @ the top, certainly wouldn't disagree with that move, he along with PP7 to me seem to be the MOST pro ready and talented at the top.

But with the lack of support around here for the "The Clause" would you be ok with them improving the offense around Jimmy to see what he can do with weapons and a less predictable offensive philosophy?

The thought of Smith, Green, Gettis/LaFell in the slots, Shockey at TE, our stable of backs, with a bit of AE in the "Wild Panther" and hopefully a cohesive and healthy line could Jimmy prove the haters/doubters wrong?

I can't say I wouldn't mind seeing this scenario play out...thoughts?

Just my opinion, but unless Jimmy makes huge leaps I see that scenerio setting us up for mediocrity.... No team consistently wins or are relevant year end and year out without above average to top QB play.

yeah, two people have picked him so he's "gaining steam." Heh.

Sadly, other analysts picking them in mock drafts is often what qualifies as "gaining steam".

The assumption is that those analysts have some actual logic behind it as opposed to just pure speculation.

The assumption is often false.

Schefter CLAIMS he has spoken to seven personnel guys who have Green number one on their board. Take that FWIW.

Then the very next day some mocks starting mocking him here. I really think a lot of that derived from that Schefter tweet.

Not surprising. They feed off of each other a lot.

I think we shouldn't draft Green. Not gonna try to predict whether we will or not.

The board already has plenty of Psychic Friends. I don't care to be in the prediction business.

When I talk about the draft, it's pretty much always what I think we should do, only rarely what I think we will. There's just too much misinformation and wild speculation that goes on at this time of year for me to take any of the predictions seriously.

Someone will get it right, others will get it wrong. Whether any of it comes from actual info or just wild guessing won't really make much difference.

You've got a one in eight chance (assuming the Panthers don't do something really off the wall).

draft a QB in the first and take Greg Little in the 3rd if you really want a WR..if not fill other holes.

You don't take a QB first overall unless you're absolutely sure he's the real deal. If they have any questions about Cam succeeding they shouldn't take him.....period. Same goes for Gabbert, Locker, Mallet or even Luck if he was in the draft....

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
