No "post pick" trading this year

In other words, the kind of trade the Giants and Chargers did with Rivers and Manning - picking them then swapping them - can't happen this draft (per a couple of sources).

To be clear, it's not like that happens a lot anyway, but I've seen a couple of "draft then trade" speculation posts on here. FYI: Not this time.

Trading of future picks is allowed but "at your own risk" seeing as it's not dead set there will be a draft next year.

Lack of CBA is negating a lot of things.

Makes sense. I wonder if we're offered a teams future 1st if we can write it into the trade that we'll acquire that teams 1st rounder the very next draft, whether that is 2012 or a future year. Obviously if they do away with the draft completely and never go back to it we're screwed but that would at least protect you to some degree if the draft is skipped in 2012 but reinstated at some point.

I think all businesses should have a draft. Just imagine it. "In a trade with Walmart, Burger King has moved up two spots ahead of McDonald's in the draft to pick up Mr. Scot fry cook from NC. This is a confusing move for Walmart because a lot o people were expecting them to fill a need in the customer service position by picking Saltman the cashier from Atlanta in this spot."
