Bucs To Cut Talib?

Don't care about his true character, what I do care about is the fact that there are 3 HUGE red flags about his past. Not saying that he isn't the best pick, just saying that there is a reason that so many people are wary of high draft picks with a checkered past.

It happened 3 years people learn from mistakes and grow/mature is all I am saying..imo some of his "red flags" are being overblown he's not perfect nobody is but damn you would think he had a violent past to hear some people talk.

The reaching comparisons are what Millions is referring to.

For the record Fuzz i don't diseagree with you, Newton has legitimate concerns. But the events of his wrong doings shouldn't continually be brought up in and compared with (if you're not trying to compare it in some way why mention it?) threads regarding players that have been involved in crimes such as assault, murder, or rape.

Well if we are trying to get a church choir together than our huddle is on the right road. Unfortuanately the First Baptist Choir isn't going to win the Super Bowl. I personally would take a chance on any player with character issues (who has the ability to perform and succeed) with the specific staff that the Panthers have in place. The staff in place seems like the type of staff that can change a persons life as long as that particular individual is committed to changing his life around. Aqib Talib took the first step in changing his life by admitting he did something wrong and turning himself in to the law enforcement instead of running away from the law like Rae Carruth or O.J. Simpson.

Now if that part is taking care of without a blemish or an abundance of jail time then the coaches need to sit down with the player assign him community service hours and get him a life coach (a better life coach than Russell had).

Once that is taking care of one needs to look at the individual as a football player. As far as a football player, Talib can play he has proven himself as an aggressive corner as far as a ball hawk and good tackler. He averages around three tackles per game which indicates that teams tend to shy away from throwing his way. He also averages an intercepton every three games as he has fifteen of them in fourty-one games. There is no doubt that he would come cheap due to his red flags and considering the Panthers spending habits, a cheap Talib might not be a bad idea.

The final point would revolve around Talib turning his life around as a person, because if he does that, he will most definitely succeed as a player. With him succeeding as a player and person, the Panthers could essentially not have think about drafting Patrick Peterson because a combination of Gamble, Talib (a clean Talib), Captain Munnerlyn, Robert McClain, R.J. Stanford, C.J. Wilson, and (possibly but unlikely) Richard Marshall. That lineup of cornerbacks would instantly become one of the top groups in the NFL.

And before someone says it would take a mircale for all of this to happen, think of it this way, Michael Vick did it and look at where his career and the Eagles as a franchise are now regarding the quarterback position. If Talib could do the same thing the Panthers would be set at cornerback for a while.

So... I say, Why Not?

I am not comparing Talib to Cam at all, never did. All I am saying is that cases like Talib are the reasons that people continue to bring up Cam's red flags.

Personally I have no problem with Newton, but to completly dismiss concerns is foolish when you are talking about drafting a player with the no. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.

FYI, i wasn't calling you out. Just referring to the many other posts/threads.

Absolutely those concerns won't be dismissed nor should they be for any player. But not everyone who makes mistakes continues on that path. Everyone chooses their own destiny.

Anyway, back on topic. Talib needs to get his life turned around before any teams consider adding him to their roster. So no.

Even if Talib wasn't involved in this recent event and was just cut out of the blue...he would never be a Panther. He's Steve Smith on defense except he throws punches during games and shows lack of motivation beyond DeShaun Foster's years.

Jerry Richardson will never bring on anybody with a history. It simply will never happen. I wouldn't want him either to be honest. We can get better corners that aren't idiots.

Cam is the exception to the rule btw..his history is different..

Hahahahahah, that was kinda funny.

I mean he did what, steal some laptops? We've all been stupid at one point or another. Stealing laptops, and shooting somebody are two completely different things..

Talib had not shot anyone coming out of college, but was known to have "some red flags" just like everyones boy Cam.

Lets see, there is the laptop thingy, and the cheating thingy, and the dad pimping him thingy, and the Icon thingy........

Once again, I am not saying that is isn't the pick, just saying that you cannot overlook what someone has done in the past and just say people change.

Didn't Beason fight a guy at a strip club? Is that ok? Should we be concerned about his character issues? Is he a bad person? Do we really want him on the team????

I mean give it a break people. To even bring up Cam in this thread is absolutely stupid. People try way too hard to make Cam look like a bad person who would be nothing but trouble his entire career.

And to whoever said "you can't change someone's true character" do you even know Cam's true character? No. You don't. All you know is the over-hyped BS that the media tells you.

When the report came out about PP7 taking money from LSU, the majority of the people against Cam, along with the media, acted like it wasn't a big deal. Just brushed it off like nothing was wrong with it (not saying I think there was). Yet you sit there and constantly bring it up when talking about Cam. Along with 2 other small incidents (yes, small) that happened years ago.

It's pathetic.

/rant.

You cite two incidents, not involving violent crimes, two not involving a crime at all, and one he personally had no control over. If all we have to worry about is Cam cheating on his tests, I think we're fine. Pull up the report of him shooting at someone, raping someone, running an illegal dog fighting ring, and I would be on your side.
