I think so many are enamered with his physcial ability plus other than what we see from games in college that we forget that it takes so much more to be a successful qb at the NFL level. I am neither a Cam lover or hater .I just hope we do our due diligence and make sure that whoever we pick can adjust to the speed, intellgence. and work ethic it will take to make the transition to the NFL.

I dont think we forget that it takes more than physical ability. I think there is a group who thinks he can learn that stuff, and there are folks who dont think he can learn all what it takes to be successful.

I am sure that the Panthers are doing their due diligence. They are the LAST people that wanna fug this thing up.

Gruden asked him what the play would be called at Auburn, and he answered "36". Just because Auburn has a simple system, it doesn't mean he has no understanding of something more complex.

Let's wait to see the full episode to see how he does on the whiteboard.

Man, he can sure fling the ball. Not sure I would want to catch one of those bullets.

I hope he is motivated by more than by the people who have been critical of him. That was not my favorite answer.

Yeah, I want to draft Cam, but i wasn't a fan of the answer. Sounded a lot like LeBron James.

I'd rather him be motivated intrinsically. Not worry about the haters, just wanting to be great.

omg...he doesn't know the NFL language before he's drafted...he's so stupid!

Who said he's stupid? It's a legitimate worry that he's been in such an incredibly simple system in one season of SEC play. He is an incredible talent and a beast no doubt but he has concerns that need to be taken into consideration. No one's screaming that he's stupid.

It's funny how none of the haters mentioned how dead on his passes were.

Again no one's hating, just addressing concerns buddy

You're an idiot.

I'm sorry but that's the one thing you got out of the video? Do you consciously ignore the legitimate questions people have about Cam or are you trolling? If so, bravo, you are a fantastic troll, if not, then you really are dumb as hell.

I am still on the fence about Cam. There is no doubt that he is a physical specimen and one charming mofo, the kid's smile lights up a room. He is a polarizing figure, there's no doubt about it. The fact that his playbook at auburn was simple is, well it's not an issue, but it's definitely significant. I'm not saying this video was a red flag, because it's not, but it does raise my eyebrow a bit. Can he grasp the playbook, and if so, how soon? This is not a question about his intelligence, this is a question about his ability to retain the information necessary to be a professional QB. Cam might be a pretty bright kid, but the learning curve between Auburn's offense and Chud's supposed 900 page playbook is significant to say the least. If the Panthers think he can do it, by all means take him, I'd rather we swing for the fences with a QB with Cam's potential than try and take a safer pick. I'm sick of the safe pick.

And people that are getting all butt-hurt over the Gun analogy are idiots too. "oh noes, he said the word gun, guns kill people, therefor Cam kills people, oh nooooooooooooes"... poo, I WANT my QB to consider himself a gun. That way people will think twice about fuging with him and he goes out every sunday with the mentality of "I'ma kill this other team".

so in a nutshell, I am concerned about how well Cam can grasp a complex offense at this moment, and I am thrilled that he wants to shoot people that think he won't be any good... or something like that.

people complain about how the haters motivate him but seem to embrace steve smith having a chip on his shoulder..can't have it both ways. you take the motivation any place you can get it in this league or you are not long for the NFL.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
