I'm not talking about Rorge wearing his helmet, I'm talking about Sandor Clegane digging graves at a monastery in Quiet Isle. He's there when Brienne arrives looking for him. He'd found by an Elder Brother of an order of silent monks and joins them after being nursed to health.

I know what you meant. I didn't read it to be him. Maybe I'll reread.

I didn't know how I was going to like the Brienne/Hound scene... people were assuming it was going to happen and then it did indeed. I thought it was well done, but obviously they never crossed paths in the books (other than later on when supposedly he's the gravedigger.) I did think it was kinda cheezy that Brienne/Pod kinda just disappeared after the fight and Arya marched herself down to the hound's side without Brienne/Pod seeing her.

I'm totally disappointed we didn't get Coldhands. Any non-book reader ought to at least google the character, because even though he's apparently minor, I thought he was a pretty cool concept.

The Children of the Forest didn't really match my mental image, but the whole magic fireball bit was sweet. The CGI skelly's were amazing. I do hate that Jojen bit the dust in that manner, though. Different from the books and somewhat spoilerish because he isn't even confirmed dead yet (only really really sick and presumed dead.)

The dragon bit was heartbreaking, and my heart broke for the hound too. Jaime and Tyrion's hug was a heartstring tugger too.

When they panned the river to show Arya riding by at the end, I thought we were indeed about to get us some LS. Kinda bugged that that hasn't happened by now. I suppose they'll get to it soon, though.

Other things that kinda bug me:

Jon not officially being Lord Commander by this point. I suppose Stannis will have a hand in that.

What's next for Brienne and Pod?

The way the 3EC looked. Just kinda looked like an old dude sitting on a root-throne instead of a guy literally becoming a tree.

Little closure to Littefinger and Sansa's story. I don't even know where Sansa is, since Arya and the hound claimed she's left the Eyrie (maybe they were just told that? I assume she's still there.)

Kinda hoped we'd have Sam and Gilly sent away by now, but I assume they are gonna do the whole Wildling Prince thing and swap babies next season before they send them to Oldtown

All minor points, at least I hope. I can only nitpick GOT as it is so good that nothing really gets under my skin...

Now comes the wait. I'll try to keep up with the casting news and let everyone here know if I hear anything interesting.

Oh, I meant to add that I liked the Qyburn/Mountain scene. Glad to see they are going to keep that, and eager to see how it goes.

For book readers:

Lots of speculation now that during Cersei's trial, she will name Ser Robert Strong as her champion... and somehow, he'll be facing off against none other than his brother, the Gravedigger (formerly one Sandor Clegane.) It is being dubbed the Cleganebowl.

Doubt it happens, but would be crazy.

I keep thinking that perhaps the lack of LS has to do with casting contracts.  Their budget was already stretched they probably didn't want to pay an actor for just one small scene at the end of the season.

Agreed.  The COTF scene was the one sketchy part of the episode for me.  I'll def echo what you said about it not being my mental image of that.  Jojen :( ...paste

IIRC Jaimie and Tyrion did not leave on such loving terms.

Yeah they tweaked a lot about what happens in King's Landing there.  It was nothing detrimental but this episode probably more than any prior drifted quite far from the books.

If I am going to nitpick the episode that was otherwise great, it would be a conversation between Jaimie and Tyrion that was omitted about Tysha that further contextualizes his actions against his father (it was probably determined that he had motivation enough and feared it would confuse viewers who may not remember who Tysha was).  And it needed a conversation between Tyrion and Varys before Tyrion visited his father's room, because it was a bit confusing on the show about how he knew how to take that detour to Tywin's room
