I am surprised nobody on the 'net is really talking about this part, but I noticed something immediately with the Melisandre scene that I think is important.

If you go back and rewatch the scene, Mel is sitting by the fire. She has a solemn look and is rubbing her hand (as if feeling her skin or being cold.) If you think back, she has never shown any feeling towards the cold, and I feel like I remember her specifically remarking on how the fire of R'hllor within her was all she needed to keep warm.

Immediately after this, and this is what I think has been missed and is pretty important, she looks over to the tale. There are rays of sunlight coming through the window, shining through the candle on the table, and illuminating the mirror.

I think with everything that happened, Mel was losing her faith. She sat by the fire gazing into it hoping for a sign, and got none. She then felt the cold and looked to the table, where she indeed got her sign. She was being told by her lord to go to the mirror and reveal her true self. She was being humbled.

That said, I wonder if this means she is or has already sacrificed herself. She never sleeps, and I think this was a clear sign that she was going to go to sleep. In essence, I think this means she has died so that Jon can live. It was a last act of faith, driven by a sign from her lord.

I think it will work, and I think we will see Jon wake up by the end of the next episode.

Well, they are breaking the fuging door down in next episode...  I think Snow waking up will finish 2nd episode.  Calling it right now.

That was kind of my thoughts as well... Our last scene may very well be them hammering on the door with the axe, Wun Wun bursting through the door of Castle Black with a bunch of wildlings that Edd has brought back, and Jon's eyes opening... Roll credits...

There is also a theory circulating amongst fans that Mel is going to just use magic to make herself look like Jon to scare the ever loving poo out of everyone in the Night's Watch and rally them to her cause, and that real Jon is indeed dead...

I'm not a fan of that theory though... it would kind of be lame... The real Jon resurrection would have the same effect...

They better not go all TWD and get too focused on faking out fans....the over emphasis on that type poo makes some overlook the fact it hurts story lines and it counter productive in reality.

because let's face it....even if you aren't a Snow fan...his character at this point just makes sense for telling a good story.  It is all set up for him to do some epic things.

I really think it was just her sacrificing herself so that Jon might live. I can't wait until Sunday. I hope they don't string this along for several episodes.

But why would she have to sacrifice herself?  Makes no sense considering that all Thoros had to do was rub dirt on Dondarion's half severed torso to bring him back to life.

It still bugs me we didn't see Stannis' on-screen death.

Anyone think he's brought back?  Maybe he fills Lady Stoneheart's roll?

I thought Ramsay and Roose brought up his death while conversing this week? IIRC something along the lines of finding his body, didn't know who had killed him, etc.

^^ The one true king is not coming back.  He dead.

I understand it had to be streamlined but Dorne has been butchered.  At least could've given us Darkstar.  My sleeper wish is that Alleras/Sarella is in the show but I doubt it.  Along with Marwyn.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
