If you want Dwill to stay....

Not sure if you know this or not but I've been saying how I want McNabb to do for Cam what he did for Vick in Philly so we agree there. Problem is I don't see that happening or us signing a solid vet to be honest with you. Which is why I think Moore will be resigned an play that vet role. Where we disagree is that I feel like there is a QB in this draft who is talented w/ a very high ceiling who I think should be groomed toward the future an that's Cam.

McNabb got completely blindsided. I doubt he'd knowingly mentor someone to put him out of a job AGAIN.

NOBODY is okay with staying put with our current QB depth chart. NOBODY.

We have said repeatedly we want to bring in another guy with a bit of experience to compete for the role. There are a ton of guys who look good out there and could potentially be a good fit. We have to do this whether we draft Newton or not because... do you really want to go into a season with only 1 guy who has decent experience under center?? Meeeh.

It's not about a "stop gap" it's about making the offense the best you can for now while you find that quarterback that fits what you want to do, and not reaching for one that you aren't sure of. Obviously if the Panthers are sure they'll draft the guy, but if not, I hope they don't.

It's no surprise these guys want someone other than Clausen under center. Who does want Clausen under center??

There is not one free agent ou there that will be the franchise QB not one. IN the draft on the other hand...

Not really. The Golden Calf of Bristol sat the basically the entire year. Spectators also fail to see when he did good not only was their absolutely no pressure but they ran really simply plays for him. Teebow still didn't start away and he isn't starting this year either for good reason. I do have a feeling he might come in mid season if things go south. If Cam were to come in I wouldn't mind him finishing off a couple games but I would think he needs to sit for at least a year. When I say 'start' I mean starter material. In which case proof lies in actually starting.

The Golden Calf of Bristol played in 9 games, started 3.

When The Golden Calf of Bristol took the field......he looked just as good if not better than anyone rookie (includes Bradford). It only took him 3 starts to throw for over 300 in a game and multiple TDs in a game. 11 TDs on the year.

They ran simple plays for Bradford so that is a mute point.

It's not interesting to you that Beason, D-Will and Smitty want a change behind center?

As posted elsewhere, from Beason's Twitter...

jonbeason @OmarKelly, Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen are our qbs. I'm riding with them. The draft is a roll of the Dice.

It is my opinion that Beason is not a good judge of what is best for this team based on the fact he suggested we sign VY.

Dan Morgan stated on the huddle that we should sign Vick and got flamed for it. Those MLB's know nothing.

That is questionable logic.

Jimmy posed ZERO threat throwing downfield. He wouldn't do it nor would he use the middle of the field (b/c of his low motion). It was all checkdowns and sideline throws.

All Cam would have to do is show he is willing to go downfield.....and the box would be stacked less. The fact he is mobile would aid him in letting guys get open downfield and him time to see it.

No just No. If he is mobile teams will keep more players up around the line of scrimmage to keep him from busting a big run.

Basically I don't want the team to get the shaft with Cam. I'm not sold on him having a 50 million dollar contract. In my opinion that money can be spent elsewhere (players on the team and free agency) and go big in the draft next year when there is the rookie pay scale.

So evidence of somebody saying Clausen/Moore are our guys, and it's disregarded?

I see what's afoot here...

do you really believe everything you see, read or hear in the media or can you read between the lines and come up with your own thoughts.

Not if you take advantage of playaction and ACTUALLY make the throws downfield (that both Fox and Rivera's offense ask).

    • Don't take this personal, but anyone who watches pregame or game broadcast on any of the four major networks & can't point out a dozen "experts" that Luke would do a better job than, is just not paying attention. IMO
    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
