Stanford runnning a zone read option???

According to Chad Reuter thru twitter:

Guess his game won't translate to the NFL now.

Honestly I didn't see the spring game but that would be quite a shift in scheme.

Every system implements a form of it. The difference is Mazahn's offense is the most gimmicky in college ball. Luck on the other hand already has two full seasons in a pro style offense.

He may not be, but nobody can predict that with any certainty.

Even so, it's not like he's expected to be the only QB option available next year.

I know this is blasphemy esp here but I think some guy named Landry Jones could be the #1 pick next year. Compare the stats for the last couple years between him an luck AND OU is the preseason #1 so they have a shot at the title.

Stanford ran the zone read a couple times a game last year. This is further proof that 99% of you guys are morons who didn't watch more than maybe 1 game of each QB prospect last year and have no handle on whether they will project to the NFL

Example right here, first play on the highlight reel:

so what you're saying is... draft Cam Newton?

I didn't even watch the spring game. Reuter said it as if they were running as the primary offense. They have a new coach so it is possible. I have seen OC 's take over before and completely change the style of offense from the previous year.

Hell Paul Johnson was a QB coach and once an OC on a pass heavy team and now runs the triple option.

But seriously the whole thread was tongue in cheek (I assumed it was just some wrinkles as you said) but you are so anxious to start a fight that you just kinda look like an asshole. :o

I don't get that at all.

I think when he says he wanted to finish his degree and play one more year of college to try and accomplish some personal goals, he meant it. Nothing to do with us. Nothing to do with pressure. Just what he wanted.

And honestly, it is smart to have something to fall back on in case you blow your knee the first day of minicamp or some such.

I agree it might turn out to be a bad decision, but I don't really question the reasons he made it.

i am sure he as some multi million dollar insurance policy on his body in case of injury. but i still believe he cost himself millions and while he will never admit it just like jake locker i think he is going to end up regretting it.

Luck was a fool not to declare this year on several levels, this will probably be the last year of the monster rookie contracts. His stock will never go any higher than it was this year, he was guaranteed to be the # 1 overall pick and there's no reason he couldn't finish school while he was playing in the NFL.

You may say he didn't declare for the draft because we had the # 1 overall pick... but we were 12-4 vying for the # 1 seed in the NFC just two years ago, so we're not a bad franchise to be drafted by.... it's just as likely that he'll find himself on the Jags, Bengals or Bills next year, good luck with that.

In all honestly, the fact that he shied away from the NFL for the safe confines of college life is a red flag to me... sounds like he's not sure he can handle the pressure.

I feel the same way and the dude is so smart he might just decided he does not like Football anymore and retire in 2 years.

Or.....money isn't an issue' date=' he enjoys college life and he's confident that his play will speak for itself and he will still be the top prospect next year....[/quote']

So he walked away from 80 million because he enjoys college life?

He could have just as easily taken the 80 million and attended college classes in the offseason, his own coach was smart enough to jump ship when he realized his stock was never going to be higher... I really wonder about Luck, something doesn't add up.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
