ESPN Update... On the Panthers

Sal Pal reports just 5 minutes ago on ESPN that the panthers have broke the draft down to four players.

Cam Newton

Marcel Dareus

Patrick Peterson

(Wild Card) AJ Green.

The pick will be Finalize in the next couple of hours by Jerry Richardson. But he say that Cam newton still has odds to be the pick.

Sal Pal also says Hurney says he wants to keep all options open into they turn in that card.

Good to see Fairley off the list.

What this DOES tell me is that since Gabbert isn't in the final 4, that we're only taking Newton as a QB for the potential and the marketing aspects of him. Not someone that we're going to look at for an immediate impact at the position for the 2011-2012 season. Maybe I'm wrong though...and I'm man enough to admit that.

Herm Edwards says they should make Newton the pick. One reason why if he works out Rivera is going to be a coach for the panthers for along time. But if he dont he has a three year window to find one and if he dont he is going to be out anyway.
