The Panthers have two third-round picks this year. The second one is the final pick of the third round and was a compensatory pick for the loss of Julius Peppers. The Panthers are not allowed to trade the compensatory pick.

if a DT falls down to late 2nd that they are really interested in no doubt in my mind Hurney's going to pick up the phone and start making some calls

I think I read somewhere, where you cannot trade compensatory picks.. I might be wrong but if I am correct then part of that option is out the window.
