Our division getting scarier

Lumps

I really don't get the Julio Jones trade for the Falcons. You give up 48 points to the Packers in the playoffs and you trade a boatload of picks for a WR?

FAIL

I HATE the falcons.... but I don't understand all the bashing...

1) I think it's funny that people keep saying Jones is over hyped... We probably just drafted the most hyped player based on athletic abilities (similar to jones in some of you all opinions)

2) You don't change you team based on 1 game!!! All one team does not love throughout the playoffs.... One. Some games u lose because of offense, some defense, some poor execution and maybe not personel. To say their defense can;t win because of a sample size of 1 NFL playoff game is flawed.

3) I mean they did go 13-3 In the NFC South just last year...

4) this means they don't have a lot of needs like other teams, but adding a big time impact player can do wonders. With starters set at a lot of positions they don't really needs lots of picks to fill holes.

5) Really it's not the future they mortgaged or gave up a lot... Hell we give up first round picks to move into the 2nd round!! A few times giving up the pick has worked out for us.... All Atlanta really did was to move from the back of the 1st up to #6, next years 1st (which will probably be a late pick) and a late 2nd this year.... that's it. Those two 4th round picks aren;t going to hurt the falcons.

The saints draft has also been very good. This blind we did great, Atlanta ect sucked it's kind of a homer non objective view to take IMO.

I'm kind of lol'ing at the Falcons pick too.

Julio could end up being good, but they threw away a bunch to grab a guy who wasn't even the best prospect on the board at his respective position for a position that wasn't really even that much of a need.

Now Atlanta and New Orleans don't have 1sts next year.

So far, we do.

This is nice.

falcons must plan on having a pretty crappy defense for a long time if they sold the farm to get another offensive player.

saints are a bit tougher, but only marginally. thing that will help them the most is if ingram can just stay healthy.

i'm not awfully worried. more of a problem for our defense to handle, but they did pretty well last year considering the injuries and piss poor coaching. those two things should be enough to keep the falcons and saints in check enough.

biggest thing to happen to the division was the addition of newton to the panthers.

I agree and Chico didnt have the best Defense in the AFL for nothing. He will get players to play. Unlike Fox who had to rely on skilled Vets.

My irrelevant thoughts:

Falcons - Got completely sodomized in that trade. Awful. Who the hell is going to rush the passer or stop the run? Who is gonna replace Tony G? I don't get it at all. It's not like they are super old team (I can only think of Peterson, Gonzo, and Abraham) and are in a desperate "win now" mode or anything.

Saints - Jordan and Ingram are both good picks. Still gave up a lot... they need LB help and maybe WR help since Moore is FA and Henderson/Meachem aren't true #2 WRs.

Bucs - Clayborn seems pretty solid.
