Why so sensitive?

Draft weekend is generally a time when even Bengals fans have visions of their team holding the Super Bowl trophy.

Heck, who should have more reason to be optimistic than us? Wholesale changes have been made in the team (for the better, I think) and while another disastrous year is technically possible, it isn't a stretch to say that we have nowhere to go but up.

And yet a significant portion of the discussion here today is about what could go wrong, dislike of Hurney / dislike of this year's picks or bad stuff someone said about us :(

I'm as big a believer in being realistic as you'll find, but even I gotta ask: For at least a day or two, wouldn't it be more fun to leave last year's disasters behind and dream a little?

Hardest Schedule in the NFL (based on last year) + One of the biggest projects ever + Not being able to practice/communicate due to greedy bastards = Recipe for disaster

Agreed..and im usually at least semi-optimistic.

That's a reach to say "biggest project ever". He's no more a project than Big Ben was after his draft day.

Exactly from the sounds of it Rivera see's Cam as a Big Ben/Vince Young type rookie. People that didn't watch Cam in college still reaching with that raw label. Sure he's not the finished product but imo he's far from raw project like a Colin Kaepernick.

Great. I've never been pessimistic about a season thinking we would be the worst team in the league in APRIL.

where did i say we would be the worst team in the leauge? just said we were gonna be bad. we dont play the piss poor nfc west this year either.

    • Brah, they signed Devion Lloyd. Hes a top 5 ILB for the last 2 seasons at Pffffffft. Another off-season of weights for Prince and Nic. Pat Jones is back and hungry . Lee dropped to the 4th round and has skills to be a CB starter. Thor is coming back.  Tre'von Moehrig is the second best defender and has another year in this system.  There's some young talent here, its time.
    • I’m greedy, was hoping we went all out on defense this draft, I think we’ll float in that top 12-15 range defense rank wise
    • Our biggest addition Jaelen Phillips has a significant injury history to include a ruptured Achilles followed by a torn ACL. We failed to add a much needed starting safety, ilb, and/or nickel in the draft.   Lee Hunter is nice but ends up being a wash considering the loss of A'Shawn Robinson. Injuries could cause problems for a unit lacking depth.  Top ten seems a bit ambitious with a likely upgrade in strength of schedule.
