Round 4: Panthers Select Brandon Hogan

I finally got around to watching the youtube videos on this kid, and I'm impressed. That was some of the best open field tackling I've ever seen from a college DB. He seems quick, and should have good hands as an ex-WR. I originally was thinking we shoulda taken House or Burton or Chekwa, but I'm happy with this guy as long as he keeps his nose clean.

edit: His NFL.com overview says his hands are less than adequate and he has poor ball skills, but I saw him make some nice catches for interceptions with his hands away from his body. I haven't seen a whole body of work, so maybe those were the exceptions, but it looked good from what I could see.

This guy has continued to have off field issues and will not even recover from an ACL after August.Come..On Man.

This team is starting to reming me of the old Charlotte Hornets.I am saying we should hire a bunch of Mormons but he had academic suspentions and multiple run ins with the law.

Give me a player that has heart with less athletic abilities anyday......like Sam Mills.,Mugsy Bouges ,Dale Curry. The hornets totally lost there fan base when they started drafting the thugs of the world.I do not want to see the same thing happen to the Panthers. If JR has 0 tolerance for thugs then do not bring them in

let me know if I'm missing another issue, but from what I've seen the only "character concerns" was a DUI..

I hardly find that to be much of a concern. if it happens multiple times, so be it. until then, I'm not worried. especially since THE PANTHERS of all teams drafted him.

    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.
    • I think he was trying to mimic the Lions with Montgomery and Gibbs. They are just more of the exception to the rule and Brooks was too much of a gamble to be a Gibbs type player. The Lions also didn’t sign Montgomery and draft Gibbs until their offense was nearly set. It was more of a luxury take the offense to the next level type of deal.
