Newton on Mike & Mike

Yeah, I heard that. But I mean he is speaking the truth. I am sure it is very annoying that people think he is dumb or that he doesn't understand complexity.

I would probably say about the same thing. I don't specifically like the phrase "you cant fault me", but I dont know how else to say it besides, "it was out of my hands and I couldn't control the playbook".

Either way, its not bad.

:iagree:

The thing I notice about Cam is he doesn't express himself as eloquently as some other prospects. With that said, he wasn't drafted for his public speaking and he's only human. I'm not sure many of us would've handled the brutal scrutiny as well has he has over the past few months.

odds are high Moore and Clausen and Pike don't even see the field except in preseason.

IMO Moore, an un-drafted FA, was gone the moment he got hurt last season.

Carolina will need to bring in a FA for a while until Cam (and or Clausen) is ready to go. They do have the option of NOT bringing in a FA and just relying on Clausen to be the temp/stop-gap until Cam is ready. If Carolina was smart, they would bring in a Vet while Schula worked with both Clausen and Cam to develop both of their talent. Cam should be treated like Rodgers - let him learn and get ready until he is prepared to come in, a luxury Clausen was not afforded.

I realize the weapon Vick is as a QB when he's breaking 20 yard runs, however I prefer this philosophy, being closer to Aaron Rodgers than Vick..

Vick said himself that the fatigue we saw on TV down the stretch was worse than it looked..

Take what the defense gives you, avoid taking big hits, and remember to stay healthy. That's one thing I did notice from Cam's highlights was it appeared he knew when to get out of bounds..

Agree 100%, use that mobility to scramble to pass, not to run so much... like Rothlesberger/Rodgers does. Vick is amazing, but he's gonna get killed doing that sh*t.

I agree.

Moore is gone.

Pike is practice squad

Clausen will be the #3 QB.

None are gonna light it up b/c at best they see the field in the preseason.

loved his responses to the length in verbiage vs. complexity of the offense issue.

it was fast and complex and effective. so much so that pro coaches are calling to find out more about it. unless you really look into what they did, the offense is easy to dismiss. what they did to defenses isn't and it won't be easy to counter. the problems defenses had with vick is nothing compared to what is going to happen with cam, esp. if they incorporate some of what was done in auburn.

chud's offense in san diego (and i do consider that offense his) was enough to make it the best offense in the NFL last year. you add in cam newton keeping alive long enough to wait for things to happen downfield or his ability to make something if everything is shut down as well as a faster paced no huddle hurry up offense and the OC quickly giving him the next play (something davidson could NEVER do) in his helmet and you have something that is really going to shake things up in the league.

i feel really good about what is going to happen.

having complex verbiage does not equate to a successful offense. having a simple language also doesn't mean a simple offense. you can have complex and very effective plays with simple names. no reason to make things more complicated than they need to be.

Naw he will be aite....Thats apart of there game you cant stop them from running. Thats what Mora tried to do with vick. And the way Rivera sound is that they will let Cam run if he needs to.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
