Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, Atlanta receiver Julio Jones and New Orleans running back Mark Ingram are among the 36 players scheduled to take part in the NFL Players Rookie Premiere. The event’s main purpose is for players to do photo shoots for trading cards.

But there will be other promotional appearances and events starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend at various locations throughout the Los Angeles area. A flag football game is scheduled for Friday night and, since the event is for rookies only, Carolina receiver Steve Smith does not appear on the roster for that game.

I'm game this year! I'm super psyched, I'll take my lil bro to see if we can get him a pic with Cam.

How is he taking pics for trading cards when he doesn't have a number?

doesn't matter... some of Reggie Bush's rookie cards came out with him wearing a #5... just made them more valuable because there ended up being more with him in #25

Panini America Gears Up for Busy Weekend at the 2011 NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere

May 18, 2011 at 10:45 AM

The annual NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere is nothing less than one of the most pivotal events on the trading card calendar every year — and the 2011 edition is upon us.

A dedicated Panini America team departed for Los Angeles this morning for four full days dedicated to capturing the essential content — photographs, autographs, memorabilia, interviews, videos and lasting memories — that will drive its NFL trading card set all year long.

Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance this week for complete updates and behind-the-scenes access to the 2011 NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere that you simply just won’t get anywhere else.

For Panini America, the event begins in earnest today at the host hotel, where company officials will capture studio photography and autographs from those among the 36 invited rookies who arrive early. That process will continue tomorrow and Friday.

On Friday afternoon from 1-3 p.m., Panini America will be joined by 12 rookies — including A.J. Green, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert and Von Miller — for a special event at the Best Buy store on West Pico Boulevard in West L.A. During the public appearance, players will, among other things, sign autographs on special Panini America blow-up cards and help younger customers complete their official NFL Sticker Albums — all by a special section of the store devoted to Panini America products.

Friday night on the UCLA campus, NFL PLAYERS will host the Premiere League celebrity flag football game.

All of that paves the way for Saturday’s marquee event — the lights, cameras and action of the actual photo shoot inside the historic Los Angeles Coliseum. We’ll chronicle every Panini America step during the all-day affair scheduled to include:

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
