Matt Moore on his fate with the Panthers

Meh. His career is young.

I hope he has a great career and wish him luck. His time is over here. I don't think anyone is really arguing that. It was a combination of skill, coaching, injuries, and supporting cast that made it this way.

I happen to think we made the right decision with Cam. I hope so...

It will be interesting to see how it plays out, that is all.

Matt has never really had much of a chance to be the guy since the beginning. Honestly who knows how long he's been better than Delhomme, probably since 08 or so.

He was labeled the starter in 2010-2011. But that was with a short leash, a staff that hardly supported him(or the team for that matter), and a hyped up ND QB breathing down his neck. That whole season was a series of unfortunate events for a QB trying to make his way and prove himself.

If we don't keep him I wish him the best of luck and I think he can succeed elsewhere.

This is a load of crap.

1. Jake was let for Matt to start.

2.They were not signing a FA QB and with the 48 pick didn't think they could get a QB.

3. They gave him a high tender to keep him.

4. Even when they drafted JImmy it was said over and over again that Matt was the starter.

In a perfect world Matt would have played good and JImmy wouldn't have saw the field. Matt's bad play messed all that up.

Matt's bad play? Really? He had one bad game, got a concussion, and got benched. He then had another bad game - but not until after he had a pretty damn good game. Seriously, he didn't play well but he gave us the only exciting game last year and after the bye even against StL at least he looked like he could lead the offense. By no means was he exceptional but considering the state of the team when he was QB, he did very well. If Matt didn't get hurt, I am pretty sure we don't draft Cam Newton because we don't finish 2-14.

Remember we didn't have any semblance of a run game until after he was knocked out for the season... and no, the re-entrance of Jimmy Clausen isn't why our running game finally looked decent.

It is what it is, and he's going to be moving on to some place he has a legit shot at starting long term I suspect, but that has more to do with what the team thinks of Cam Newton than it does Matt Moore.

1. Jake was let go so Fox wouldn't start Jake. Fox pulled the plug on Moore week 2 of a winnable game....Fox was not on the Moore bandwagon. Nothing in Moore's tenure here suggests Fox was a fan.

Matt Moore is a decent Qb. He has a chance to go to a team like the Redskins or somewhere that doesnt have a definate starting QB and compete for a job. I can see him being a solid backup for a lot of teams in the NFL. He had a few bad games last year, but I would've gave a more chances than Jimmy had. I guess Fox got tired of playing musical chairs and left Jimmy in there, but we would've won more games if Moore started the whole season. Good luck to him wherever he goes and I hope his #1 fan goes with him.;)

Please tell me you aren't so new that you didn't know he was injured?

Please.

Where did I say you were healthy. I believe I said we would've won more games if you could've started the whole season. Fox prevented you from doing so along with you getting put on IR. You were benched for Jimmy before that. I'm not some bandwagon Cali hugger that jumped on the Panthers during the Superbowl run. You've already admitted the way Smitty stepped up made you "follow" us more. I watched the NFL, but never had a favorite until we recieved the Panthers in 1995(I was only 14). You might just be too young to go that far back. I been here since day one, 9ers boy.;) back to ignore:smilewinkgrin:

 Come on man, just admit it. You are only here for Cam. These paragraphs prove you have no idea what went on last year.

Keep backpedaling. :seeya:

I'm comfortable with my fanhood of the Panthers, you don't need to keep bringing up stuff I openly admitted then trying to twist it to make it seem like I'm not a fan of the team, but please keep trying.

1. Who benefit from that decision?

2. Fox's was also not a fan of Jimmy and he showed that by not going to the after draft press conferance.

3. The FO had faith in Matt to build off of 2009 season. Long story short he didn't.

Holy fug you are soooooo terrible at putting coherent and articulated thoughts together. Honestly, how is this even possible?

So I guess will just skim over the fact that he didn't get the team in the endzone all preseason and was horrible all preseason.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
