btw...he's been over in scotland participating in a 2 day 100 mile race called the drambuie pursuit. i've spent a good bit of time over there and the terrain is pretty difficult. tehre's 9 legs of the race including running, racing speed boats, biking, canoing, kayaking (he tipped over a couple times in loch ness), white water rafting, mountain climbing (which he didn't do b/c he doesn't have health insurance), racing dune buggys. sounds like it would have been a lot of fun.

i, for one, welcome the attitude. no denying the talent and ability to make big plays. no denying the toughness, either. the attitude, though, is something i think he will be able to back up. i want this team to have a swagger to it. i want it to have an attitude that it is going to be great and dominate.

screw humility and silent confidence. forget that flying under the radar crap. let them hear you coming and then just go out there and kick some ass. let them hate...just give them plenty of reason to do it.

I agree the toughness will be welcome. That is not the attitiude I was referring to though. It is the me first, I am a star and deerve special attention type atitude I don't like. He is a loose cannon at times, something young quarterbacks don't need. I hope he has grown up and matured, because he brings other intangibles to the plate in a positive way. As I said before, I like the guy on the field. But that is not where the problems have been.

Our offense will be on swag overload if we somehow are able to keep Steve Smith and have Cam Newton and Jeremy Shockey on the field at the same time. LaFell has a little swag to his game too.

Haters will certainly be hating.

I'm assuming this opinion is based on what happened in New York? From all accounts I've seen from his stay in New Orleans, he was one of the hardest working guys on the team.

if he shows up and is a team player like he was there, I have no concerns.

Yeah, I don't worry about Shockey's ego at this point in his career. I think he knows what he is. If he can stay on the field and contribute here and there with an upside of go to posession/red zone guy, I'll be very happy with that. If he does nothing, meh...nothing lost.

The dash Clausen here gave me a chuckle.

"I'm excited," Shockey said. "I've talked to Cam (Newton) a couple times on the phone. I talked to Jordan Gross. I've talked to a bunch of guys - Jimmy Clausen."

Why does everyone assume 30 is so old? That's the peak of a human's strength. The best balance between skill set & intelligence.

It depends. 30 is old for some things. RB for instance. Or strippers.

I think in Shockey's case it's his inabilty to stay on the field more than his age.

Too many people assess like they were preparing for their fantasy draft nowadays. He is big and fast and has great hands, not to mention experience with Chudzinski and the kind of chip all players get on their shoulder after suffering several season ending injuries and being handed the proverbial walking papers more than once and for various reasons, some not so flattering about his attitude.

He has every reason in the world to give it all he has this season and knowing his potential, we should all be very excited about the possibilities.
