Lockout: When will you start to panic?

Recommended Posts

Love football and Fantasy Football. I will miss it.

I will watch college football and be content.

Frankly, watching so many of my friends get laid off and continue to be laid off because the jobs are going overseas, not because of anything more than greed, it is very hard for me to care about either the owners for the players; as has been said, millionaires vs. the billionaires.

I am getting quite fine with the idea of the 90% balance owed on my PSLs sitting in the bank; so fine, that next year, I might give them back to ole Jerry. God knows, no one will buy them coming off a 2-14 season.

now that you mention it, I'm going to miss Fantasy Football.. I had one hell of a league ready to start.

I'm just happy I have Fantasy Baseball to fill my sports void.

If you need a bat pick up Mike Morse. Dude is raking at the moment with a 9 game hitting streak with multiple homers. Don't know why but the dude is still a FA in a lot of leagues.

I personally won't panic... The word for me would be more like Pissed off! Irate...

This will mark the first season in the last 5 years that I'm actually home and NOT deployed during football season. For them not to play would be a Huge smack in the face!

If there isn't a season I will NOT support the NFL ever again. My TV will never be tuned into a game. I'll just watch sports center and catch up on here. No Sunday Ticket purchases, no Jersey purchases... I'll wash my hands of them completely and dive head first into college football! I'm a huge fan of the college game but it's not even close to what I feel about the NFL.

I feel that if the NFL, players and owners can put their fans through a full lockout, then I'm not supporting them. That's just me though. A lot of people have said that, but they won't do it. Believe me, I will. You wanna sit there and play my face... Ok, but dint expect me to turn around and support you. If they miss any regular season games I'm done... Believe that!

I guess I'll study more, or take more trips. Enjoy my last fall semester in college *shrugs*. Sh*t, I need football and I need basketball. It sucks that both the NFL and NBA are going through this crap. Hopefully, they both get there respective situations resolved. I won't panic, but this is going to suck horribly. I have the Braves to hold me over until October(hopefully), but I need something to atleast get me over until UNC's season starts.

As I said before, this would be my first chance to go to training, practices, and home games so I'm already disappointed. If by Sept. there's no football the NFL should panic. Short of being a PSL owner I spend quite a bit on merchandise, and that money will be spent elsewhere. I don't keep the sport (or the Panthers for that matter) afloat, but me combined with everyone else that feels the same does. They need to get their shite together, because they are slowly killin the goose.

So, are you saying I should just wait on buying some razor blades?

naw, never know when you need to cut a brotha..

Soccer free agency starts in June and July (depending on the country). Champions League qualifing starts in late June. EPL starts in mid August. I'll be alright.

Some of you should give soccer a shot.

already have.. and if I'm hangin with Jangler near those razor blades, I might feel a sudden urge to cut my wrists and anyone near me..

except, watching Germany play early on in the world cup was entertaining since they were dominating this one team.

but I want to punch someone every time I see a flop... dude can be 5 feet away from a defender and go down like he was stabbed a few dozen times. I realize most soccer fans have accepted this as a part of the game, but I cannot.

if I start watching anything more consistently, it'll be rugby..

    • I think you have to factor in that we're still not an attractive proposition for Head Coaches. You're not getting the cream of the crop if you fire Canales a year after winning the NFC South, especially considering the situation he walked into.
    • Yeah, I was about to say I hope he's doing okay health-wise because he's not looking good in that pic.
    • Honestly, I dont  think he should be on the hot seat yet. A bad start to next year, then yes. Despite our mistakes on play calling this past season, we played better than anticipated overall. Bryce showed improvement and maturity (although still not nowhere close to our expectations). Better record and 2-15 to 5-12 to 8-9. Despite what we feel the stats dont lie we are improving by 3 wins a year. Could 11-6 be our expectation. That's a high bar but at the rate we are going, thats what its looking like. We all want to see a 5-12 to a 13-4 record but we are methodically moving up. Success doesnt happen overnight (well in most cases).  IMO we are struggling mostly on the defensive end. LB and edge are our biggest weakness. I see Bryce making improvements (even though I was a Bryce hater) next year. Biggest concern is LT on offense. How to fix this? We need a big name edge or to trade up and get a big name edge or LB and pick up one in FA and draft one. Also if in the 3rd we can pick up a TE. Dont know if Sanders is the answer or Tremble (even though I love Trembles blocking and power after the catch). If these two can get their footwork together they would be great. Maybe all they need is a better TE coach. And if Brooks can stay healthy and be the back we thought he could be, man that would be great
