Family Reunions..

Recommended Posts

There's this family that Dan's family knows. They keep inviting us to their family reunions, I wish they'd quit it.

we attend 2 per year - one for each side of the family. 1 is ok, the other is pure misery.

We have 5 kids, so we plan to begin having our own since we now have grandkids. We're gonna rent a beach house for a week so there's plenty of time and plenty to do (fishing, swimming, tubing, bbq, crab boil etc). Our kids are married/scattered, so its hard for them all to make it home for holidays. Figure reserve a house 6 months out and everyone has plenty of time to plan.

Alcohol is allowed! but in moderation as grandkids will be there too.

that's cool y'all will be doing that. my cousin got married at the OBX and we all rented about 3 houses for a week. enjoy having a great time.

Always have one of these the last weekend of June.. most of my family are fun people, very little drama, and always a blast when we get together..

the first night (friday), a couple of my cousins hit the town to party it up.. the next night, we have a huge gathering at another cousin's house to kick everything off. my cousin's husband cooks up a smorgasbord of food from crabs to ribs, he cooked some tuna and striper he caught last year.. everyone brings their beer, sometimes the liquor is brought out and hilarious moments occur.. have had some great memories over the years. then on Sunday, the actual reunion takes place.. more food than anyone can eat, and the old people talk about the good 'ole days.. (which is probly my favorite part)

do these still exist or is this further proof that previous generations failed to help out the 90's and 00's contribute to society?

:D

That's the weekend of your favorite lake festivity...

I am related to a poo ton of folks, many of whom I don't know all that well. My grand parents back in the day always made me go every year, now I don't go to any of them.

My parents go to our beach house every weekend, and when I am off work I usually go down there to see them, and my grand parents. We are very close, but the reunions are not for me.

Oh yea, the heavy drinking starts every day at 11 am.

Yeah, I guess it depends on what you define "family" as...

My dad's mom is still alive, so we still get together at her house for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving every year... but that's just my dad's brothers and sisters and their families...

If we got all of our extended family together from this area it would be like 250 or more... not gonna happen.

Don't really care to see most of my mom's side of the family all that much... there are a few of them that are OK, but the rest are a little off.

We have one almost every month since family has started flying in more recently...

lots of alcohol is usually involved.

large quantities of meat cooked on the grill.

Eat too much. Drink too much. Get up. Bloodys/Mimosas. Repeat.

Weddings are even crazier.

My family does the same thing every year at the end of June. Its called a Cousins' Party, and everybody helps out with the food. We have a bowling night on Friday, my cousin Vinnie runs a bowling alley, then Saturday morning is a big golfing team tourney, with the actual party being Saturday afternoon/ evening. Sunday is hang out at Gramma's pool and get ready to head back down to VA. I cant wait, didnt think we were going to make the trip this year, but last minute change of plans now will allow me to go up...

We have one each year on the Saturday before Easter. Some obscure relative of mine has some nice property with a pool, beach volleyball court, basketball court and we all just eat (we're Italians) drink, and play drunken beach volleyball.

I look forward to it each year.

I have one this weekend. My mom and a few of the other women have started them back up the last 5 years. we went years without one becamethey use to turn in to fights. Some caused by drinking others caused by the psychos in the family. Anyways everyone seems to have mellowed with age. And us younger ones don't know enough about each other to fight or care.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
