Sweet tea is too sweet....

I make my tea ofr the most part, but occasionally have to deal with getting it elsewhere. Its always too sweet, I get it 1/2 sweet, 1/2 unsweet usually balances it out. I have mine down to 3/4 cup sugar for a 1/2gal. Its just right, not overly sweet at all. My wife, raised in the South, tells me its not sweet enough...

Moms used to make a gallon of sun tea and add in a lemonade frozen concentrate, now thats the stuff...

I miss sweet tea.

That and the food are what I miss most about the South. Oh, yeah, teh wimmenz too, all very pretty and they don't act like you are a rapist if you strike up a conversation.

Try to get that out here and folks look at ya strangely.

If you try to make your own from unsweetened tea, they say things like "looks like you like a bit of tea with your sugar." Fugging health nuts.

1/2 unsweet tea 1/2 lemonade

We call that an Arnold Palmer....not sure exactly why though.

I've never liked tea, whether it has sugar or not. Out West they drink "sun" tea. Put the tea bags in a glass jug of water and leave it in the sun all day, and as PanthaSan said no sugar. They do have tri-tip: not sure what cut of beef it is, but its a wonderful cut.

I made the mistake of ordering a "Sweet Tea" in a cracker barrel in poughkeepsie, NY, thinking that such a large chain would standardize their procedures.

I got something that tasted a lot like soap.

In comparison, being too sweet/not sweet enough is a forgivable offense.

:yesnod:

MamaSan always has a jug going. She grows her own herbs to add to the regular kind or gets her tea from Missouri.

Tri tip is a local thing. We have a type of BBQ called Santa Maria Style. Named after a Central Coast town and it consists of a dry rubbed Tri tip, beans, salad and garlic bread. In fact, we were in Santa Maria last weekend visiting friends and had the chicken version.

Everything you might want to know about Tri Tip

I like the cut and it takes all types of seasonings very well. For my money, though, I like to BBQ Sirloin Ball Tips.
