OL stats last year - Clausen just sucked

13th in total rushing yards

10th in yards per attempt

that was WITH the 32nd ranked and worst passing attack in the NFL with teams only worried about the run hurting them.....AND with our best RB going on IR.

You really want to argue the run blocking was bad? It started slow yes....but it was that way in 2008 and 2009 as well. You can't run in the 2010 enviroment with poor run blocking....Carolina ran well all things considered.

only thing limiting the run game was the nonexistant threat of a forward pass downfield thanks to Jimmy.

Provide some proof it was bad.

Dont forget to mention the fact that opposing defenses were stacking 10 in the box instead of the usual 8 in the box. All defenses mostly played us with one safety.

Our running game was downright impressive... Especially considering DeAngelo on the sidelines spectating.

we had a run game in the top half of the league with defenses loading up to stop them b/c of having the leagues worst passing offense.......the run blocking was the same as it was the past 2 seasons. Started slow and was pretty dang good.

the run game finished in the top half of the league thanks to late season surges by goodson and stewart.

the blocking was not the same from the beginning of the season to the end, nor was it the same as the previous 2 seasons.

defenses didn't respect the passing game in 2009 the same way they didn't bother to acknowledge it in 2010.

lol....

so the 2nd half surge only is counted in 2008 or 2009....but not in 2010? Those 2nd half surges are the reason they finshed where they did as well

defenses respected the pass more in 2009 then 2010. The passing game in 2009 was more hot and ice cold.....in 2010 there simply was no threat.

No, there are some on this board who repeatedly post Tom Brady couldn't of had success in this offense last year and Jimmy was doomed.

The observer comments are even worse literally every other comment it "but butt Joe montana would haz been awful behind our crappy olinez!!!"

I remember it was so bad at one point you had some saying oline should have been the first pick...

Pretty good article about Clausen actually... While it's no secret that I really hate this guy... It's all of our jobs to report the latest and greatest.

Here's the article... Written yesterday.

Be sure to read the comments after the article. They'll be sure to get you a Lil pissed off.

It did not take 8 games for a 100 yard rusher in 2009.

Is this another thread bashing a rookie quarterback for playing crappy on a crappy offense with a lame duck coach? I was just about to start one.

Did somebody give you permission to speak? We had a crappy offense because we had highly ineffective QB play... In fact there's really no change to our offense this year except for Cam and Shockey... What say you to that!?

If u don't have something productive to the conversation than just read and move on...

Have you ever posted a positive thread about the Panthers?

this is positive. Posters have bashed the OL......I was commenting they did a good job. Pro Football Focus thought they did as well.......

yeah, there is a backhanded slap at Clausen....so what? He didn't earn his paycheck last year and his play deserves to get knocked. I guess knocking Clausen consistantly is somehow more negative than those who consistantly try to place the blame everywhere else?

My point remains, this team was solid overall outside the QB spot last year. That ain't being a Debbie Downer.

going off how they finished, the panther's offensive rankings the past 3 seasons...

2008 - 19th passing, 3rd rushing

2009 - 27th passing, 3rd rushing

2010 - 32nd passing, 13th rushing

carolina's passing game hasn't been anything spectacular over the past 3 seasons, or any season under john fox...it's a run first/play action pass offense.

why people keep insisting that the run game's lack of production is a result of a lack of a passing attack is beyond me. in this offense, the run game sets up the pass play.

the passing game has consistently gone down because it's taken longer each season for the run game to develop.

2008 - we might consider it a slow start, but the run game was spot on from game 1.

2009 - it was week 6 before the run game showed any life.

2010 - nothing from the run game until week 10 and inconsistent over the last 6 games.

people can go back and forth with this until someone can find any concrete stats...but stewart taking out his frustration on the oline in week 14 against atlanta, and then being able to run for 98 yards on his next 4 carries tells me that something is wrong with the line.
