DT v. DE in Rivera's Scheme

I figured this could be an interesting debate. I'll just pose the question and y'all can do the rest:

Within the Rivera defense, what position (not players) do you find more vital to the success of the defensive line: DT or DE? And why?

I'm probably oversimplifying this, but figured it'd spark some talk about our new D under Rivera & McDermott :seeya:

I kind of want to see what he does as a head coach. He has been in some pretty diverse systems (Buddy Ryan's all time defense, Jim Johnson's blitzing scheme, Lovie Smith's cover two, and the Wade Phillips' inspired 3-4 in San Diego). It'll be interesting to see what he uses and what he doesn't from all those stops.

That being said, we are running a 4-3, and I don't know many teams doing that where the DT is more important than the end.

I'm very interested to see his blitzing packages. One thing is for sure and its is that Rivera's defenses are fun to watch.

I say neither... I suspect that we will start mixing in a 3-4 more often than not... I say LB. That is mainly why I think Everette Brown will end up working out. Now we'll need DT's and DE's... But I think the core of this D will be our LB corps. I seriously believe that our success on D will hinge upon that group staying healthy.

Just my opinion though.

It's also no secret that we obviously need a stud DT if not two :-(

    • After the first off-season BY said this in his first presser and you still don't believe it??? Then you know when people change form workouts, cause it is seen with eyes. BY looks the same as the day they drafted him, but you don't believe?? That's the proof, he's the same dude but you know better??I bet the kicker is now bigger after after he put in the necessary work that pros do and not " LOL I needed a break, lols". Theres alllll sort of PEDs out there for someone just like him and BY wants to remain below 190, what a leader....   Brainwashing at it finest.
