WTF are you even talking about? CRA said we've drafted for a running game, and there's absolutely no proof over the last 3 drafts that we've been trying to build a running game through the draft. In fact, the opposite is true.

I think that is very true to a point. While I'm not sure exactly how much JR controlled the draft I don't think he just told them to totally deviate from the plan to the point of it being unproductive.

yeah, b/c that is what was built under the Fox era.....that was the Panthers. Rivera's building blocks start with that.

The 2010 class was not draft for Fox or Rivera.

John Fox drafted 2 1st round RBs in the 2nd half of his run.....who does that? In addition to that he went for a one dimensional run blocking machine in Otah.....Yet you think he was even more focused on the pass?

Do I think the 2011 Panthers are a run-first team? Well, IDK enough about the offense thus far to know if we'll be run-first but I do believe a strong running game is NEVER a bad place to start, especially when trying to develop a young QB.

Since I don't look at the 2010 draft the same way as you, I'm more inclined to say that in recent years they've been making an effort to balance out the offense with the drafting of a couple QBs and a handful of WRs

Im saying that any idiot (Hurney) should have the foresight to draft some receivers considering it's pretty much gone ignored the last 10 years..

That's what you guys don't understand, we have another top flight back sitting behind DWill.

What I am saying is we put too much emphasis on the RB position, and it has been biting us in the ass.

It's time to get into the 2000's.

Stewart clearly isn't "sitting" behind Deangelo. They would as always split carries to some degree, with Stewart gradually taking more and more over the next 3 years, Deangelo becoming the change of pace guy later in his career, hopefully when Cam takes the next step to turn the team into the passing team that everyone hopes we become. Keeping Deangelo allows us to bring Cam along like the Steelers did with Roethlisberger and like the Jets are doing with Sanchez. It also is insurance in the event that the law of averages catches up with Stewart and he does miss more time. A few people have thrown out the stat that he has never missed a regular season game, but apparently forgot about the two that he missed with a concussion in 2010. Concussions as we know are something that easily can occur multiple times with a high impact position like running back.
