Possibility of Replacements?

So as far as the Owners are concerned, there is a new CBA. They have opened up the front offices and are planning on having abbreviated camps next week.

The players haven't agreed to this CBA, but they are no longer unionized... so unless they recertify, there is technically no collective bargaining process anymore.

If they don't show up for camp, they are in violation of their contracts. This could give legal avenues to fill vacancies with other people. AKA... replacements.

It's going to be really interesting how this might play out in the next couple weeks.

The replacements would be because the regular players are on strike. If there's no strike, there's no replacements.

If they don't approve the new contract, then they would be on strike in a way.

Personally, I would pull for the panthers, replacements or not. I was a skins fan back in the 80's, and I enjoyed the replacement games about as much as the regular games.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
