Holes at CB and mainly DT/Rivera

Lumps

Dom Capers was also an amazing DC who was "ready" too. Not that I don't think Rivera will be good, but I'm going to hold off on the GOAT thoughts for now... :)

Dom was a pretty damn good HC too, until he got to big for his shoes and started wanting more sway in the personell and everyday running of the team. He put too much on his plate and just couldn't eat it all.

Not meaning to split hairs, but can you develop a "superbowl winning" defense if they don't actually win the Superbowl?

I thought about saying that but I said it that way because the bears defense and Rivera played a genius defensive scheme, they upheld and Rivera adjusted to some of the most diverse play calling from Manning. If I remember correctly and close to a perfect year too. The loss was due to the offense and Grossman INTs, so it was more stressing that than being literal. Rivera had schemed a winning SB scheme hows that :).

The point was more to get out of the Fox state of mind. Fox would have never signed a TE over a DT or even CB because those were not his key pieces. With Rivera, we are seeing a shift in the players that will fulfill those key piece roles and we should just trust Rivera.

I think we're fine at DE. Who did we lose that could have crippled the group of DEs? Brayton? CJ+Hardy=good starters, Brown is plenty capable as a sub-in. I've heard a big about Chinasa, he could turn into a gem, or worst case he's another body. Only 1 team out there has two really good DEs, the Colts. We're fine with one really good DE.

Don't understand how he feel's comfortable at DE. Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy should be the starters with Everette Brown as the main sub. I guess the staff feels comfortable putting Norwood at DE, cause they no longer have him listed as a hybrid on the panthers website. They must also feel comfortable with one of the three undrafted defensive end's.

If they don't sign another defesive end I expect this to be the depth chart at defensive end.

LDE- Charles Johnson, Eric Norwood, Malcolm Tatum

RDE- Greg Hardy, Everette Brown

I think Tatum is the best out of the three udfa defensive end's that the Panthers signed.

I also think that this is a kind of weak defensive end corp, it wouldn't hurt to have a vet with more starting experience because let's face it; last year was Johnson's first year starting and none of these other defensive end's have ever started consistently or even at all.
