CB Situation

I think we spent the better part of 2 1/2 years getting rid of everyone over 30 and making a committment to build through the draft with young players. We had options this offseason and we chose to help Cam in every possible way including over paying DWill to give him the best chance for success.

Some position had to suffer and since the coaching staff, as we should, knows this will take another couple of years to get where we need to be they are not going to go against the plan. They are not going to over spend for another CB near 30 or that has a high price. Truth is we don't have the money anyway. Secondary help will come through the draft next year or a free agent steal like Olsen.

Ther is a plan. We will be improved this year and even mores the next. Just to see the potential and path is good enough for me. Everyone sit back and enjoy the ride. It's the journey that is the best part anyway.

^ This... Rep + Pie....Excellent post.... Welcome to the huddle and post more!

Phillip Buchanon is a Free Agent, has been the whole time. We'd be very lucky to get him regardless of him being 30.

Redskins re-signed CB Phillip Buchanon.

Buchanon turns 31 in September and will compete to keep his nickel back role. He was Washington's right corner on all passing downs last season, with Carlos Rogers moving inside to cover the slot.

Damn I couldve sworn he was there yesterday, even saw a list someone posted today that had him on it. Oh well. :frown2:

Not only has he been signed, but apparently the Redskins suspended him for the first four games, as well.

I (a longtime supporter of Gamble) am starting to get slightly concerned. The whole ordeal with him and Fox last year was....strange to say the least. While I am 99 percent sure his illness is in fact legit, I feel like his heart is no longer in playing for the Panthers or potentially football in general. He has never really been a media guy so I can understand his aloofness, and I guess once I see him back in uniform I will start to feel better.

I'm excited to see what he can do under Rivera, I think he could really blossom.

LOL at the misinformation in this thread. You can really tell which "fans" just showed up in the last two or three weeks.

Buchanan is not a FA and he is also suspended.

To those claiming Burney is the next great thing- well he isn't even a lock to make the team. UNC fans suck. I wish the Panthers would just stop picking up former UNC players so we wouldn't have to listen to the same ol' sh!t about Hilee Taylor and now Kendric Burney. Also, Burney has the exact same listed height as does Captain. They are both short.

Someone claimed that Captain can't play on the outside and will be stuck on the slot receiver for all of his career. Too bad he played on the outside in Nickle situations last year and the Panthers moved Marshall inside.

I think Burney will be a solid player, once he gets used to the NFL pace of the game. Nevertheless, I too would feel more comfortable seeing an honest-to-god shutdown corner on the roster. If we have to go with Gamble/Cap/Kendric this year, so be it. I think we might get burned some, but I also think our guys - especially Cap and Burney - have a tendency to rise to the challenges in front of them. So while it may be that Cap is a lil' guy, he plays bigger. That kind of heart might be enough to keep us from getting murdered in the secondary until we can bring in some real size and speed at corner.

I'd like a window seat please.
