Jon Gruden thinks Terrelle Pryor may be better than Newton

If TP was "Better than Newton," then why did Newton go #1 and TP not declare?

TP will make a nice TE somewhere.

That's all.

The reason he didn't declare was because of a deal he had with Tressel for his punishment. Instead of being suspended for the Sugar Bowl, he'd be suspended the first 5 games of the following season. But now Tressel is gone he decided to enter the supplemental draft. But either way he did need an extra year.

LOL, as others have said name one young QB prospect Gruden was able to identify and develop into a successful NFL QB?

This is the same guy who tried to make a big deal out of the fact that Cam's play calling at Auburn consisted of calls like "36" and then went on to call out a sample play that was much more complex then the average offensive play call in the NFL.

It's not to say that Gruden does not know anything about QB's and in general I like Gruden, he's entertaining... but I don't think he's done anything to be considered a QB guru.

At this point in his career, Gruden is an entertainer and he knows it. He makes comments like this to stir up controversy and stay relevant.

Pryor's maturity level would scare the poo out of me if we picked him up..

i doubt the panthers pick him up and in my book shouldnt. Pryor should go to a team that has a need at QB and/or WR. the panthers need a WR, but not a QB. Pryor will WANT to play QB first, kinda like The Golden Calf of Bristol did. he will switch only if he has to. As for his maturity, i dont think that's the issue. my isssue with him is he's a run first QB who hasnt made good reads yet with passing. he's more of a project than Cam and ADD to that, he will be as late as Favre was in camp and for a rookie that's NOT a good thing.

there is an art to being a broadcast journalist that some have mastered. Largely because this art is about as difficult as completing a connect the dot sketch and then coloring it by numbers.

The title of his thread defines yet another example of a completely ambiguous statement that polarizes fan bases to the point of incitement, exaggeration, and amazement. Over and over again your average-minded bystander will get yanked into the mosh pit over a quote this innocent either because he has no idea that he himself is the target of the medias arrows or because he just has knee-jerk homerific reactions to everything that seems like it might diss his team.

It's a very funny thing to witness.

    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
    • Because he won't be here next year, we aren't winning this year and we need to see if Renfrow or Horn can be that guy going forward. If Bryce isn't good enough to do poo without AT we need to find that out this year as well. I'm fine keeping him but his role needs to be slowly reduced throughout the year anyway so we know what we have for the future
