Shockey's camp comments on the U scandal

I was at training camp today and Shockey made an off-the-cuff remark to a fan wearing Miami Hurricanes gear. It went a little something like this.

"Hey there's a Miami guy. Don't listen what that media is saying." With Cam in the forefront of the crowd, "Hey they did that sh*t in Auburn too". Cam bows his head and shakes back and forth.

It's pretty much impossible to have a competitive, clean D1 program. Too many people involved - coaches, players, boosters, agents, tutors and on and on. You can't monitor everyone 24/7. However, Miami looks like SMU all over again. They didn't even try to hide it. When it runs that deep, you have to wonder how serious the NCAA truly is on compliance. Seems like it's hush hush until it blows up, then the NCAA is forced to act.

NCAA amateurism is a sham.

He could have said Ohio or USC, but why Auburn?

Purely directed at Cam.

Positioning was ... the crowd at the end zone, Cam and QB's working in the end zone and the rest of the team behind them working. Shockey was turned around facing Cam and the crowd. Cam was in the direct line of fire.

    • He’s also 21 years old. I don’t know why fiz is so eager to label him a bust
    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
