if you dont get Hayden then i dont know, maybe trade for Samuel??? other than that the only idea i have is see if one of our safeties want to move to cornerback and then trade for Taylor Mays, but even that idea isnt good.

As for DT, there is still Marcus Stroud you can sign. he didnt play well last year, but he isnt good for the 3-4 and if you cant get him, see if Pat Williams wants to play one more year.

We don't so much need depth at CB, we need a starter. We need someone who can make Captain better, because he's there to take Captain's job immediately.

Does Asante Samuel do that? Yes.

Is that a realistic option? Probably not.

And our DT situation is just as bad as the DB situation. We don't need anymore journey, as I said before, we need someone who is at least above average. Right now, we have an average DT (Irvin), two rookies (Fua and McClain), and a marshmallow (Nick Hayden).

    • Right but I'm not talking about other teams I'm talking about the Carolina Panthers who are heading into 8 consecutive years of losing seasons. We can argue about stats advanced metrics and expectations until we're blue in the face. Winning when the playoffs are on the line is a very key goal for any starting QB in the NFL. And not for nothing but let's keep it real here. We hung our hats on the Packers game in his rookie season after weeks of either poor or mediocre QB play. And now we're doing the same with his sophomore season albeit with a little larger sample size. But still picking and choosing what to judge just leads to an echo chamber on either side of the debate. We should all be able to meet at a consensus that competing passing the eye test and winning some games convincingly early in the season is realistically the goal for our #1 pick heading into year 3.
    • Y'all forgetting about Maz Mwansa.   He would be the fifth DE IF the cut Barno and DJ Johnson.  He would not cost us a roster spot--and that is the key. "Carolina’s pass rush is being reshaped under new outside linebackers coach AC Carter, and recent addition Patrick Jones II. While Mwansa won’t count against the active roster thanks to the IPP slot, his upside is significant. He’s been likened physically to Eagles pass rusher Nolan Smith Jr. and already shows flashes of edge-bending potential. Panthers Director of Player Personnel Cole Spencer summed it up: “Anytime you get a raw ball of clay like that, and the league affords a roster spot, it’s pretty cool.”
