One thing I have noticed....

Excellent post.

I know someone is going to post "WORZT to FRIST!"

If we signed a few vets, I was thinking we could win up to 7 games, I still think we are going to win 5-6.

This is why were went a little crazy picking up guys off waivers, we are trying to throw talent against the wall and see what sticks. Then when we find out if some of these guys can play, and develop into cheap, reliable, young players, then next season we can add a couple pieces to make a run at a wildcard.

We bitched for years about Fox relying too much on vet, well folks this is the opposite.

The reason they have focused more on offense is Cam, they want to have 0 excuses for Cam not to develop, and to make sure that can protect and nurture him along the way.

I agree, which is exactly why I think they will go offense in the draft next year depending on how it looks this year. The goal right now is to put Cam in the best position to succeed above anything else. There is just no way you can worry about having a top defense right now when your offense barely scored over a TD the year before. They want to see who can develop on defense while they sink top resources into making the offense better. There is gonna be lumps along the way but thats just the way it is.

As i said yesterday, if Rivera and his coaching staff don't have any desire to win, then they should be released.

If they can't put a formidable team on the field this year, then he should be fired. The Dolphins did it with Cam Cameron (another Norv Turner man), and it was the right move.

You don't hire a man who will use "the future" as an excuse to play poorly now. I don't want that kind of man leading my football team. Period.

No successful franchise out there ignores positions of need in hopes that other team's reject players will come in and turn into Pro Bowlers. That's what practice is for, to evaluate your young talent, but you don't treat live fire games as preseason-and if you do, then I believe he was the wrong choice as coach.

Hey, Hurney, instead of signing a player who can help us and letting our rookies develop under him, let's sign some rookies who weren't good enough for their former squad and sign them here. That way we can prove to ourselves that they can't play, rather than just assuming from the fact that no other NFL team wants them.

well Rivera has said he thinks they could win 10. That is coming from a guy taht just inherited a 2 win team w/ the #1 overall pick in the draft......so I would say Rivera goal is to overachieve and win through coaching and putting players in the right spots to make up for holes they have.

These will be the same people bitching when we don't win but about a quarter of our games this year. It's easy to put on a happy face until the losses are actually in the books.

Preseason: "We are a young team and I'll be patient with the growing process."

Week 8: "WTF, OMG we fugg'n SUCK!"

I don't think picking up 2 3rd round DTs in the draft is "ignoring"

You don't start a rookie, especially a mid round pick, if you don't have to. We are stuck with Cam starting. We don't have to be at DT right now. There is veteran leadership at that position out there that also provides a temporary one year upgrade while our young players develop. It should be a no brainer, and it would be for most NFL teams. Not our Panthers, apparently.

I prefer ripping the bandage off quickly.

Bring in a vet DT and still have a losing season with rookies not getting experience?

No thanks.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
