Game Thoughts - Week 1

Great write up, very accurate and well written.

Also, yes, I know the exact look from Rivera you were talking about and I said the same thing.

He is a skurry looking man, but that is a good thing. Id rather have him getting pissed off and yelling at everyone and motivating instead of chewing gum and clapping the whole time.

The look that I saw was on the first penalty of the game against the Panthers. Rivera looked ready to commit stone cold murder :)

Its also one cheesy-ass stadium. I went out there for the BCSCG last Januray. The stadium kinda looks cool on TV along with the idea of its "sliding" field, but IMO the inside of the stadium itself along with its concession venues suck ass.

Plus it seems like the footing on the field still sucks. Players were sliding all over the place in the BCSCG in January and I *still* saw players losing their footing on that field yesterday.

A cheesy venue for a cheesy organization.

I absolutely agree with that as well. Even their cheerleaders and music resembled something put together for a high school basketball game.

I suspect we'll see that look a lot this season

Wonder if we'll ever see him smile on the sidelines. I could easily see Rivera being one of those coaches that talks about things they need to improve in his post Super Bowl winning press conference.

Were you the guy wearing the Smitty jersey, standing up with your arms folded at the end of the game? I think he was bald.. anyways, he stuck out like a sore thumb next to all those Cards jerseys.

I'm sorry if this is kind of off topic, but it has to do with my thoughts on the game in a way since I was there in person.

My girlfriend surprised me with tickets to yesterdays game. Being from Los

Angeles, we made the 6 hour drive to Glendale to finally witness my beloved Panthers play live for the first time in my life. The game was incredible, Cam was outstanding. I had a great time even though i was shaking with nerves every minute of the game.

But let me get to the reason why I made this post. The Arizona Cardinals fan base is the most classless group of people I have ever witnessed in my damn life. Worse than anything I've ever heard from Oakland, and besides the recent beating at Dodgers stadium, I've never seen any fan base treat the visiting fans this way...

I sat next to all Cardinal fans, And from the moment I got to my seat until the moment I got to my car I received nothing but pure hatred. I had a group of guys in front of me tell me to shut the F up before they F'd me up. I had a drunk guy next to me intentionally hit me in the head with his Cardinals towell over and over after they scored until I had to physically rip it from his hands. I had several different drunk women who had no football knowledge whatsoever bitch me out whenever I cheered. Another group of guys behind me tried to take my sign and rip it at the end of the game. Once I left the stadium I was called out by a handful of Cardinal fans talking pointless, unnecessary, smack to me all the way to my car. I even had a guy follow me 100 yards trying to make fun of going to a football game with my girlfriend. He literally went out of his way to call me out, try to make my girlfriend feel uncomfortable, and tried to start a fight with me.

And the most disgusting act I witnessed was right in front of the stadium after the game. Two mexicans in Cardinal clothing, both Cardinal fans, started a HUGE fight between multiple guys resulting in lots of bloody faces and lots of tazoring. I can not believe it wasnt on ESPN.

It was my first game ever, so I dont know if thats how it always is. But I know for a fact that I will never attend a game at that stadium. I am absolutely disgusted with that fan base until further notice.

Sorry to hear that happen to you man. For what it's worth, not every stadium is like that. Went to the Panthers at Saints game last year and most everyone was classy. Did have a drunk guy after the game say he was going to kill me, but he fell down when he started walking towards me, and everyone, Saint's fans included got a good laugh, and as I said, most were decent, which surprised me, considering Saint's fans reputation of being piss stupidly piss drunk.

Quick tip: Don't buy tickets to any Eagles games in Philly.

All I know is I was so unsold on Newton, my good friend who has been a Panthers hater and die hard Cowboys fan all his life had to sell ME on him and started watching Panther games because of this guy.

After yesterday, I'm on the bandwagon. Whoever said perfect storm, I disagree. 4 sacks is not a perfect storm, especially for a rookie, and yet he still managed to put up those numbers and throw only one pick with that kind of pressure. Our O-line still blows, and I think it's quite amazing what he was able to do in the face of that much pressure as a rookie starting in his first NFL game. It's crazy.

Not saying he's a guarantee, but he earned my respect and vote of confidence yesterday.

I was at the game yesterday also. Other than a few jokes, I found the Arizona fans very nice compared to many other stadiums I have been to. Must have been where you was sitting. The Ari fans around me were all having fun (but they knew football maybe that makes a difference?) I did not see the fight. Where was it? I came out at Gate E walking towards Gate 2 (Blue Parking area) No fights out that way. Plenty of Carolina Panther Fans at the game yesterday.

Not sure how you read that from this.

It's fairly typical forum behavior to label someone the greatest of all time or a total and complete bust based on a single game. Also typical for people to get crazy hyped up after a good game and then morbidly depressed when the next isn't as good.

Me? I prefer to look at the big picture. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Bottom Line: Cautiously optimistic at this point. Like I said, great start, but people expecting a similar performance against the Packers defense should temper their expectations. If he looks bad, I won't jump off a bridge. If he looks so much as half-decent, I'll be happy.

No matter what Cam does, there are going to be some people who don't like him JUST because of his skin color. He'll never be good enough to some people to play QB for the Panthers because he's not white. People who are guarded are afraid that you can see right through them. Anyway, I thought Cam looked great, especially for a rookie. He looked better than some veteran QB's in my opinion. I'm excited and excited doesn't mean I expect him to throw for 400+ yards every week Mr. Scot. Everyone has a learning curve and once this kid finishes his, look out!!!!

He converted all 13 of his field goal tries with a 100% conversion rate that led all FBS kickers with at least 12 attempts. Fitzgerald was also perfect on his 14 extra points. He will compete with Matthew Wright for the Panthers’ kicking job in training camp. Harrison-Hunte went undrafted despite a strong showing at the Combine. He’s an older prospect who will turn 25 by the start of his rookie year, but he had just one season of sustained production at SMU after five years at Miami. Still, he earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2024 with 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks and will push for a roster spot in Carolina as an athletic interior disruptor.   more at the link https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/05/panthers-sign-19-undrafted-free-agents
