Will Steve Smith be the first receiver in NFL history.....

to break that 2,000 receiving mark? I thought considering his age and our wasted years at the QB position, he would never live up to that potential. Yet yesterday, even at his age, he can still get behind defenders and go up and ****** balls out of the air. Now that we have a QB who can throw the ball, will Smitty break the 2,000 mark?:D

By the way, Cam and Smitty are leading the league in passing and receiving right now!

I've said it numerous times, but if Smith wants a shot at the HOF at this point he's going to have to do something remarkable. Either win the triple crown again or deliver 2000 yds in a season. If he does that then I think it makes him a lock.

We all know how good Smith is but the HOF looks at stats and the Panthers are not exactly media favorites. The years of garbage QB's and no WR help have hurt his chances. So it will take something like this make people see.

Of course I believe he can do it, but I'm also a Smitty fan.

No. Cams gonna look like a rookie in some games. And the cardinals secondary blows. Wait till we play a defense that has a good secondary. Yesterday was no fluke, but you can't expect anything close to that every week

Why not?! 6k+ yards, 48 TDs is extremely plausible for a rookie!

If Smith can Stay healthy and play more years then he can probably be a HOF. Jerry Rice played a lot of seasons. That is one reason why no one can touch his records. Rice was great don't get me wrong but one reason why his stats are so great is because he played so many games. His career lasted so long because he trained well (actually his training was so tough many WRs couldn't train with him) and stayed healthy for his career. TO has lasted a while as well and probably will come back after he heals from his surgery. If Smith decides to play and stay in shape then I feel he could possibly be a HOF with Cam as his QB. I am going to hate the day Smith goes but it looks like its going to happen within the next five years, but he is so strong that maybe he could last a bit longer if he can keep his speed.

We saw what blitzing against Cam will do to a team. I think teams will take notice and start backing off. Yet if they do that, our running game should take off. So it becomes a pick your poison thing. Most teams will probably choose to blitz because Cam's a rookie, and that will allow the Smitty connection to take place. I think this is going to be a special season for him.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
