What adjustments do you want/expect to see this week?

On the offensive side of the ball we HAVE to be prepared for the Zone Blitz in passing situations. That means leaving backs and tight ends in protection-they can release if it does not come to their side. Hope you guess right and ocasionally run the ball in passing situations-if you catch them on an overload to one side you can break some big ones. Defensively we BLITZ like crazy and generate some pressure. I know Rodgers will burn us on occasion but if you sit back in coverage he will carve you up like a Thanksgiving turkey. I'd rather go after him. And lastly throw caution to the wind! Go for it on 4th and shorts, run reverses, throw everything you can at them-why not-we have nothing to lose!

I want to see Cam be a little more free running... if they do a lot of blitzes or rush 3, cover 8, let him run more and make them play it.

Overall though, with the offense, the only thing that didn't work as well as I'd expected was the running backs. If Dwill and Stewart break out, that'll only make Cam's job easier.

I know they did work yesterday, but CJ and Hardy are going to need to contain. Rodgers can pull those backyard football plays out of his ass for those 20+ yarders.

I think we still rely on the pass as much as the run; Ingram is a lot like Stewart and got stuffed on a lot of plays last week.

Offense: The performance yesterday was amazing but there are a few questions that I have and hopefully we will see in the next few games.

1. O-line- People have ragged on the oline a lot, but we need to remember that this is the first time they have been together in a long time. Otah was rusty. And definitely Hangartener was new to this whole system. Expect our rushing to improve by mid year if we have some continuity. Adjustments: Blitz pick-up and starting off with an attitude. I think they looked timid and not mean and nasty.

2. RBs - We have redesigned our offense around Cam which is going to be a good thing. Right now we are playing to his strengths which is the shotgun. This also limits our running to lots of draw plays and screens. When Cam is under center Arizona expected run and clogged the line. This opened up the deep pass but killed our running game. Adjustment: Better designed screen passes out of the shotgun and under center a few deep passes in the beginning of the game to keep the defense honest.

Defense:

1. Aggressiveness: I am not talking about McDermott as much as the players. Our Lbs and Safety's bite on play action quite a bit and can over pursue. I think we need to protect our lanes a little better especially because Rodgers will definitely take advantage of this. Adjustment- Unfortunately we can't have it both ways. When we lack talent(or experience) up front we have to be aggressive to over compensate for that. We just need more aggressiveness from the dline moreso than the LBs and Safety's

2. Mental Errors. Mental errors killed us. We are adjusting to a new scheme and this is going to happen but we need to make sure that these mental errors don't make us give up these huge plays. Adjustment: Keep playing and study that playbook!

Overall the keys to the game against the Packers:

1. More balanced offense

2. Defense...hmmm damn Rodgers is good. I'd say we need to do better on 3rd downs. I know that is vague but honestly what can you do against him?

    • Valid, and throw in that what Wilson and Smith did is not out of the ordinary for a WCO
    • Darnold was pretty bad until last year.  He implodes mentally, its just what he does.  To this day I dont have a problem with letting him walk.   Baker is a bit different.  He was an ass in Cleveland and they couldnt deal with his poo, but he at least had talent and went to the playoffs.  So you know he could play at least.  There were different stories coming out from the time he got here, competing with Sam and then the practice team release fiasco.  Both good and bad.  Some say he was a good teammate others say he bitched behind the scenes.   From what it appears his wife has worked with him and he calmed down and his play has reflected that.  Tampa loves him.  So if we were going to keep one it probably should have been him but man he was really bad for us.  But to his defense he didnt get the first team reps until late into camp.     In obvious hindsight we should have signed Baker cheap, drafted a dude and let the cards play out, but you know the rest of the story and now we are going to have to watch bryce for 2 more years
    • Again his one year calling plays happened to be Baker's lowest YPA not counting his split year hear.  That tells me he was less aggressive with a QB who likes to be aggressive.  We have that and almost 2 full years of Bryce Ball here in Carolina.  He will take some deeps shots as most offenses have to in order to keep the defense honest.  Quick passes and hopeful YAC.  I'll give you one guess to which year Rachaad White had the most receptions as TB's RB?  Remember the first thing he wanted to do here is focus on how quickly he wanted to get the ball out.  That's part of his recipe to help QBs and help his OL.  Run the ball, quick passes to hopefully players in space, sprinkle in a little PA.   So yeah you can look at some coaches he learned under and speculate, but I am telling you what he literally is doing and has done as a play caller.  Offenses that were and are 100% his baby.
