Official Panthers/Packers Tailgate Thread

Time for regular season tailgating to begin. Opening up with the SB champion Green Bay Packers with good weather. So glad to have Ranucci's Big Butt BBQ (www.ranuccis.com) start the season off fresh from a first place win last weekend at the Blues, Brews and BBQ festival in Charlotte. This food is the best food that will be offered all year hands down. We are thankful to have him sponsor this tailgate and please consider him for all your catering needs and dine at his new restaurant. He is bringing his 16 ft. catering 'big rig' trailer for this tailgate.

Please be one of the first to try his new restaurant in Belmont, NC. It is located at 403 E. Catawba St., Belmont, NC 28012. Their phone number is 704-825-4472. Swing by and get some food to take home or pick up a catering order.

The Huddle has been fortunate to have generous sponsors every game to provide free food and non-alcoholic drinks to everyone that shows up. In return the people that partake leave a donation that, because of the sponsors, 100% goes towards a year end bike donation to Toys for Tots. We’re talking upwards of $20,000 and 600 bikes to date have been donated to the Marine Corps Reserve during this time.

This week’s fare will consist of competition quality BBQ, smoked wings, slaw, baked beans, large lima beans, chips, boiled peanuts, turds, and whatever else shows up. There will be breakfast served (country ham biscuits) as well. Here's the usual info:

Where: We are located at the intersection of 3rd st. and Poplar. We are located in a large parking lot that borders 3rd, Poplar, and Church st. congregating at 3rd and poplar right beside the lower entrance to the lot. Look for the carolinahuddle.com banners, tents, and loud music. You will see Ranucci's big cooking rig there as well. The lot is across 3rd street from Picasso's restaurant and bar.

What: Food, music, drinks (non-alcoholic) and friendly Panthers fans. 5 tents to beat the heat. If you drink alcohol you have to bring it yourself and provide your own cooler because its hard enough to keep our own drinks cold on summer days.

When: We’ll start at 6am this week. Maybe earlier. If you get there after 12:15 there's no guarantee any food will be left. Most of us are trying to get in the game as well so we can't stay back and cook for you, miss kickoff, if you get there late.

Who: Around 50 fans all somehow connected to this website.

How much: The parking lot is $25 to park there but you don’t have to park in the lot to tailgate with us. Many take the light rail for a few dollars and walk down or park a few blocks back for cheaper and just walk up.

When you show up and partake, please donate as much as you can to our cause. It’s a labor of love for us, but at the end of the day don’t discount what you saved by not bringing your grill, food, drinks, etc. and what it would cost you for a day of tailgating, shopping, and energy cooking. Remember 100% of your donation goes to charity. Hard to find many others that claim that nowadays. If we had to pay full price for this tailgate it would cost $12/person. Please don't travel all the way downtown, pay $60 or more for tickets, get a double plate of competition quality BBQ with sides and just throw a few ones in the bucket. That's crap.

Disclaimer: There will probably be loud music. The Huddle does not police adult behavior at tailgates so while kids have a blast at tailgates, we can’t be responsible for what they may see or hear during the time. Remember if you drink alcohol you’re responsible for bringing your own and keeping it cool.

Any other questions this is the thread to ask.

This is one that I was looking forward to attending. But alas I am going deep sea fishing friday and saturday

good luck with the fishing....hope they are biting.

Nothing worse than bobbing in the middle of the ocean while not catching anything.

What do you fish for if I might ask?

I have no idea yet. My buddys FIL had the same conditions a few weeks ago and caught 30 fish. So he saw the forecast for this weekend and told us to come down. I think it's going to be near shore. Maybe Mackerel?

    • Don't think your comparisons are germaine. Teddy and Bryce are nothing alike. And no I am not always right  or  wrong but the difference is I let the experts inform me and follow those who do know. And after all the constant wrong takes you go on and on about just like this one, I don't feel like we are kindred souls or like minded. I will be glad to compare my takes versus yours anytime.  And have no clue what you are talking about regarding stern lectures. But I can see around here if you take a constant negative approach to everything you get a lot of support and given our track record you may be right about some things. I don't live my life that way nor do I constant like to complain like you.
    • Never, and it doesn't have to be an old grizzled vet, sometimes a vet can learn something from a young player too.   Do you not see players talking to each other between plays, quarters, on the bench, wherever, in EVERY sport? It's what players do, especially the great ones, they're always working on their craft and learning tips from others to better themselves.   So when your entire receiving room outside of one player, who has mostly played special teams in his career, has played 1 season or less in the NFL, it's not a lot of experience there in the locker room and on the sideline and is a tad concerning in regards to the proper growth of all these young WRs with great potential.
    • So me "putting my foot down" would be me spending more money each season to watch the games without sound at the bar? Do you not see how dumb that sounds? Streaming a game here or there isn't tough, but doing it for 17 games a season, when more than half the time the quality is terrible if it's even working at all, and it's just an awful experience to follow your favorite team. It's literally spending at minimum an extra $100 a season to have a worse viewing experience if I were to "put my foot down" as you say, and then don't get to also be able to easily watch all my fantasy players as a bonus on top. I spent at over a dozen years going to the bar every Sunday to watch us play, so now that I get to watch from the comfort of my couch, plus get all the other games, and spend less money doing so, yea, I'm going to pay that money without a second thought, it's a great deal for me and tons of other fans.
