According to contract numbers obtained by ESPN.com, the Panthers restructured the contract of veteran offensive tackle Jordan Gross. They took his salary-cap figure for this season from $10 million down to $9 million for the 2011 season.

It was a minor tweak. Gross agreed to surrender a $1 million incentive for participating in a certain amount of special-teams plays. His $6 million base salary for 2011 remains the same and the rest of the contract, which runs through the 2014 season, was not changed.

Underrated. Not just talent wise, but team leader wise as well.

I don't know how this move is really going to affect this season, besides saving JR a million dollars. Anyone we are looking to sign in free agency won't cost anywhere near the amount that we have, and likely with the aging players out there that will want to make some money this year, we will be able to sign 3-4 players comfortably with that cap space. Only thing I can really think of is if the Panthers are working on some trade for a high value guy, where they need the extra Mil to fit the guy in under the cap.

It doesn't even do that. It basically is just an accounting move to remove the money from the cap figure. Gross isn't giving up the money either. Other than for cap purposes, it was a non-event.

    • LaMelo to Brooklyn for Nic Claxton, Drake Powell, and a pick.  Who says no?
    • Appreciate you, brother!  I know it was lengthy, but I felt whoever actually read it would appreciate it.
    • Damn good take, brother.  I think I take that poo personally because (sidebar: I don’t like to use narcissist often because social media has made it a buzzword and diluted the meaning, so when I use it, I don’t take it lightly) I grew up in a home with a raging narcissist, then married a narcissist and just came out of a divorce after a 20 year marriage with her, where afterwards she met and married another narcissist.🤣  And in my dealings with them, over my 41 years on this earth, at times I took great delight in breaking down their arguments point by point and forcing them to either acknowledge their wrongs and take ownership of them or watch them yammer and stammer away when they ran out of lies and excuses.  At various points, that was extremely satisfying, but ultimately, which I’ve realized especially after the last 3 years and going through the divorce and everything, it does NOTHING to them.  It doesn’t affect them one way or another.  For a logical, reasonable, grounded person, you would think calling them in their poo will bring it to their attention when they’re face when nothing but facts and truth and force them to change, but nope.  Not in the slightest.  They just disassociate from the ones who do that and find more people who will validate their behaviors and thinking.  poo pisses me off because they’re so destructive and couldn’t care less so long as their needs are met.
