Is Cam a "perfect" rookie QB?

Or ideal, I should say. The only flaws I saw in his QB play were issues one would expect to see in a rookie QB: he needs to be more aware, has a tendency to stare down his receiver at times and he needs to be less hesitant when deciding whether to stay in the pocket or take off for a run. He seemed fine at reading the AZ defense, but I expect this to be another issue that will show up as something he needs to work on this Sunday and going forward. However, all of those things are things you expect a rookie to have problems with, and none of them are fundamental flaws, but rather the ones that always come with the rookie label.

So in other words, I really don't see any flaws as far as fundamentals go for a QB:

He can pass in and out of the pocket.

He doesn't have any trowing mechanics issues that I noticed.

He has great accuracy. Still passes accurately on the run.

He doesn't hold on to the ball too long. Quick release.

He showed me he can hit multiple targets. He found Smitty while also doing a great job with the TE's.

He has no problem throwing under pressure, which for a rookie, I think was huge.

He didn't give me any signs that he'll turn into an interception machine. Generally made good decisions and didn't force the ball.

He didn't have issues with protecting the ball in the pocket. No signs that fumbles will be an issue.

He also protected the ball while rushing.

He has amazing confidence for a rookie.

He has great poise, looks and plays the part of a leader.

He's got great size and visibility for a QB.

His footwork seemed fine.(only issue was hesitance that I stated above and believe slowed him down)

He's got great speed.

His attitude is where it needs to be.

And overall, as an athlete, Cam is a beast.

Finally..... he practiced with and took pointers from Tom Brady, and whatever he did in one incident was enough to make Tom go: "Woooo...you can't teach that. You can't teach dat!"

If Tom's genuinely impressed, that's good enough for me. I know it was just one game, but honestly, I don't see any flaws in this guy for a rookie QB. I couldn't say those things about either Moore or Clausen last year. Both of those guys had issues in more than one of those areas.

The only issues I noticed were things that I listed at the top and you only get past them by gaining experience and learning how to play at the NFL level. Learning new offenses, or developing a new offensive style, isn't anything that should remotely referred to as a flaw, because no one escapes this when moving up from college(Even Luck will have to adjust). The one thing to remember, which is another huge plus, is he was a day 1 starter, and even though he's not the first, it's still a big deal for a rookie to get that nod, not to mention, perform on that level.

If I look back on Sunday, even with the couple of mistakes I saw, I could barely tell you the differences between Cam Newton and a great vet QB doing the same job. And while some people may say it's only one game, and he just had a great game, I think it would also be silly to think his first NFL debut showed us everything there is to see. There is so much room for improvement for any rookie, and one should actually expect to see even better performances out of him as he gets better. I'm not saying Sunday was Cam's floor, but I highly doubt that's anywhere near his ceiling either.

Did anyone else notice anything that maybe I'm missing? And have the guts to actually state it?;)

Please please please stop making threads.

In case you haven't noticed, we've spent the past six months talking about Cam, and debated him endlessly. Nothing you're saying is new. It's all been done before while you were away, you know, with the rest of the fair weather fans who quit on the team last year when your boy toy Matt Moore was benched for Jimmy.

man. this time next week is gonna be really interesting.

 Haters are licking their chops.

Hater prayer at bedtime: Lord please keep me and my family safe. Look after us Lord and help steer us to do your work oh Lord...... oh yeah and please, please, please, make Cam throw three interceptions against the Packers this weekend. I can't wait to go on the Huddle and get payback to all those Cam nuthuggers who were talking poo this week. Nothing would give me more pleasure Lord than to take their excitement from the greatest rookie debut in history and quash it for my own self serving purpose of denigrating Cam Newton and trivializing his accomplishments. I pray these things in your name. Amen.
