Peppers conference call recap

See alot of comments on how arrogant peppers sounded, He didn't sounds arrogant at all... Some of you might not know but peppers rarely did interviews and avoided media for this kind of reason, it's akward for him to talk to media and when he does it takes him a while because it seems if says what he wants to say in his mind before he says it.

And about the whole him leaving thing, Of course we offerd him a big contract to re-sign him and he made a excuse saying he does not deserve that type of money after a poor year, but we all know thats not the truth... The guy wanted to go to a winning football team and win a ring, How can you blame the guy?

FYI Steve was going to do the same thing but unlike peppers, steve had a family that was more important to him.

For the record, there was never anything more than baseless speculation that Steve was gonna do the same thing.

I respect the desire to go to a winning organization, but the Bears really haven't done any more since he's been in the league than we have. For him to lean on that as the reason to leave, he should have pick an organization that is actually ran better than the Panthers. I still think his top reason for leaving was wanting to be able to disappear in the crowd and not be the spotlight player for a team. He wants to do his job, collect his paycheck, and go home. That's fine. I just didn't like all the doublespeak and games being played in the media.

part of the anger is driven by a deep-set fear that he's gonna go off against us for a handful of sacks and FFs.

Negative Ghost Rider, If there is hate(and there is) for this guy then it has nothing to do with my fear that he is gonna be good against us. The hate that i have is pouring all the support and well wishes on a guy and then watch him take a giant horse piss right in the face of every fan that loved him.

So all you fans who think we (I) are being so mean spirited or just bein "mad" I aint mad, I'm glad he got what he wanted and I'm glad that i got to see him dissapear for the other team as much as he did here. Peace out Pep and Godspeed.

Link me where Smitty said he was open to leaving. I missed that article.

Steve is still under contact....and Steve acknowledged he went to his family to discuss where he wanted to play and what they would do. He said his family is the reason he decided to stay hear and honor his contract (which through Smitty's words he was heavily considering not doing that).

that means Smitty was considering doing something worse than Peppers did....Pep played out his contract and Smitty was deciding on if he was going to try and force a trade.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
