Peter King is feeling the swag (Part deux)

I know many of your are still sour and short sighted, but for those who can take a long-term perspective when looking at this team can take heart in knowing we have solved the most important part to building a franchise team.

Building a defense? Easy.

Finding a Elite QB? Not so much.

Anyways, Peter King, who many consider a major douche, has given Cam nothing but praise, and kudos to him for not holding a grudge, even though he started it.

2. Cam Newton. Phenom. I find myself reaching for ways to describe what we're seeing in Newton -- the confidence, the downfield throwing ability, the command of an offense early, the knowing when to throw and when to tuck it and run. And I find this to be a way to explain his instant impact: Newton threw for 374 yards in a loss at Chicago Sunday. Last night, it was barely a blip on the highlight shows, including our Football Night in America show on NBC, because of Newton throwing for more than 400 yards in his first two games as a pro. But 374's not bad. In John Elway's first 170 NFL games, he threw for 374 yards or more once.

Rookie of the Quarter: Cam Newton, QB, Carolina. Carolina put up 543 yards on Chicago, in Chicago, Sunday. I can't fathom these video game numbers that Newton is making possible. There has been no quarterback who has entered the league in its 92-year history and had the impact Newton has had in his rookie quarter-season. With passing games of 422, 432 and 374 so far, Newton is erasing the stigma that young quarterbacks -- even rookies without the benefit of an offseason program to learn the offense instead of having it force-fed in six weeks -- can't be ready to take the reins of a bad team in the first game of their pro careers.

Lot of people still blame him for the "icon and entertainer" kerfuffle. But he knows whats up now.

People need to stop fighting it and just start drinking large gulps of cammy cam juice and hop on this bandwagon while there is still room.

Great point... he's working all on natural ability right now, when he's got a couple of years experience in he could be really scary.

I love how he plays with confidence and seems to let mistakes and bad plays roll right off of him... of course, it helps that he hasn't had that many bad plays. After that INT yesterday he came right back out firing.... that is awesome.

You seriously don't think we'll draft or sign other receivers?

I wouldn't call Gettis or LaFell trash. They've both shown a lot of promise in my opinion. I wouldn't call either a #1 at this point, but they're solid for the experience levels they have. I would like to see us draft a #1 to replace Smith in a couple season though. Imagine having a Calvin Johnson caliber receiver for Cam to throw to. :eek:

It's pretty disheartening to put up numbers like this and still lose.

I hope everyone in this organization wakes the fug up and starts helping Cam out because in a few years, if he is still putting up numbers like that and losing, he could very well wish to start winning somewhere else.
