The Superdome

I've been to many saints vs panthers games in the dome..been to the city, stayed there in multiple places etc...experienced mardi gras, been in a mardi gras parade, etc...

It is an amazing place of culture and history with wonderful food and attractions...

But, it is a poorly run city and state with crime, crooked cops, shifty shop lifters, and bums. I have never been to a place with so many bums..most of them will try to sing you a song or some ish and beg for cash.

It is a great place to visit and a good place to watch a football game because the dome has very good viewing angles. I was at the dome when david carr and matt moore beat the saints...it was quiet, everything echoed, fans were slow to rise and seemed disinterested.

I saw Jimmy almost beat the saints there last year...place was full and loud, but still dim, full of echoes, and the majority of fans there had never been to a game before '09.

If I had to go watch a game somewhere I would want to go to kansas city, green bay or seattle. Its one thing to be loud indoors but being loud with an open air stadium is special.

I was in NOLA 3 months before Katrina, we were leaving on a cruise that departed from there. we decided to go down there 3 days early and get a room in a hotel on Bourbon street just so we can say we did it.

if you stay in the french quarter, and dont mind the smell of vomit 24/7 then its a great city. but if you venture into the ACTUAL city, it was a shithole before Katrina, i cant imagine what it is now.

or the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as it is now called. It is hands-down the most fun place I've ever seen a game. It's loud and rockin' and sometimes I forget that I am NOT happy when they are.

i f you attend one away game in your fandom, this is the one.

How are you treated by the other fans? Do you go with other Panther fans?

Even though the dome itself is worn down and straight out of the 60s, the atmosphere to watch a game is insane. Fans there stay loud the entire game, of course, when the Panthers make a big play you have to love how quiet it gets. 99% of the fans were cool when I went (in 2009), the other 1% clearly were watching football for the first time.

When I was 22 and looking to get wasted and go whoring it was awesome, now that I'm all grown up I see it for the dump that it really is.

So you judge a city because you went there as a kid and got plastered. How much of the art, music, food, history etc. did you take in while you were drinking and whoring?

you had a bad host

French Quarter is cool to visit once but the real gems are elsewhere around the city.

Some people like strip malls, Cheesecake Factory and white people, others like variety, culture, history and aren't scared of people with color or poor people (I'm not directing this at the poster I responded to, just people in general)

I need to go back, I was there until 2 days before Katrina on a bachelor party that got cut short due to it.

My few tips to New Orleans:

The french quarter is nice in spots like Jackson square, St Louis Cathedral, the market, and Cafe du Monde (sp). Also, the WWII museum is pretty sweet too. Pretty much anywhere has good, unique food. Bourban st and the like are pretty much toursity drunk spots...but hanging in new orleans in the day is pretty cool.

I'm still not a fan of thier sports facilities. The arena is a dump and the dome's ramps, concourses, concessions, restrooms all need to be rennovated. It has gotten louder in recent years..but that happens with most cities.

    • His points are valid.  However, it seems a bit based on past performance and fails to take into consideration trends and conditions that might suggest growth in 2025.   For one, he breaks the team down by position and ranks them separately.  I guess that is a fair way to do it, but they are dependent upon each other. Last year, our DL sucked.  That impacts the rest of the defense.  With no internal pressure, the QBs simply step up to avoid the Edge rush.  I would have suggested that the internal DL is now featuring pass rushers and large people who can collapse the pocket.  Secondly, the LBs were not protected very well in 2024.  It is hard to see the holes and step up when a guard is in your earhole a second after the snap.  Finally, the defensive backs will be forced to make fewer tackles and they will be better in pass protection with a new and improved DL.    Canales made an interesting comment the other day, and I (from the outside looking in) feel the same way:  (paraphrasing) "I have never seen a better group of rookies."   I think the biggest concern is the learning curve.  How long before these rookies are ready?   I am bullish on this team.  I think they win 3 of their first 4 and get confident.  The get the fans behind them.  From there, they win 6 of the remaining 13.  If they stay injury free, they have an outside shot at the NFC south.
    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
