3rd season for Detroit with stafford

And now they are competing. First season with Stafford was also 2-14 for them. It takes time and defense wasn't good last year. We were not 2-14 only because of QB play.. A good defense would have given us a few more wins. We need more speed and strength in defense play. Once we get that we won't be manhandled. Only issue is smitty's time clock.

Best thing they did was run Matt Millen out of town. Once they got a competent GM and started drafting well and making smart moves in free agency things started to turn around. Cam playing at a high level has made it obvious we need more than just a QB. Can't put everything on his shoulders and expect him to carry a team stacked with waiver wire talent.

It's disgusting that people are resorting to having to compare us to Detroit. The Detroit Lions are the worst franchise in the league historically. Shouldn't we set our sights a little higher? From 12-4 in 2008 to the new Detroit Lions less than 3 years later...pathetic. FIRE MARTY HURNEY
Agreed. I'm sick of Hurney period. He still get scrub players like John Fox still runs this team. Ron should not settle for Scrubs like Fox did. Ron should be demanding talent players instead. Hurney needs to go at the end of this season and get a better GM who can do it right.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
