Panthers moving to a 3-4??? Says McDerm

Pitt having one backup OLB in the 240's doesn't make Anderson or Davis 3-4 outside linebackers.

They simply aren't.

Harrison is the starting OLB...... Wow Also stated earlier that Applewhite would be the OLB. Anderson is the other starting ILB. It would be Beason and Anderson starting there next season. I expect Davis to be cut.

I've played sports, lmao. What's the difference between 6-2 237 and 6-2 241? How about 6-2 270 or 6-2 266? That's the differences between Anderson/Harrison and Johnson/Woodley. I'm talking about OLB's here, not the whole scheme right now.

How about Mario Williams 6-6 300 pounds. Wait, how about instead of talking poo.... actually attack what the hell I said?

If you think that the only difference between Charles Johnson and Lamar Woodley is 5 pounds, then we have nothing to talk about.

Thats 10. And seeing how C.J did bulk some more, I say he's about 280 now. Yes Mario once was 300 pounds, he's down to 280 now

Like I said cause you find very few guys to go against the argument doesn't mean much. You can't compare Mario to C.J. You mind as well say Peppers shoulda been an OLB as well. I dont see how you comparing him to those

^ Read that. Woodley was scouted as an OLB, C.J was not. Put Woodley in a 4-3 DE full time, he'll get smashed lol

You tell me who's his who? Never said that was the only difference... I said they were comparable in size and they are. The difference between the two is that Johnson is stronger and quicker While Woodley is faster (top end) and more athletic in the hips.

Harrison is listed at 242, but I believe it was during the super bowl that it was meantioned he plays in the 260's. You can just look at him and tell he's not 242.

I keep reading that because Johnson stood up on 3 plays yesterday, he would be slated as a 3-4 OLB. What based on his speed, agility, pass defense skills for example would suggest he could be an OLB. I remember some discussion about Pepper's not necessarily being a good OLB. So why would Johnson be a good fit for that role versus being a DE in the 3-4. And please don't say he isn't big enough. Because he is too big for OLB.

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
