The biggest issue with our offense nobody is talking about

play calling was not bad, but the screen that got picked was the same screen we had ran all game.( great play by the DT, and im basing this off my memory) there are other ways to run a screen or different looking screens, plus the execution was not as good pretty sure someone should have cut him before releasing up field.

Actually ur posting is flawed. U spoke about the offense, yet u made it all about Cam. What happened to the rest of the players? What was their role and how well were their jobs executed? A QB is only as good as those around him.

Cam's stats are a symptom of a larger problem, and that seems to be some combination of play calling and coaching philosophy, imo.

I think they get too conservative overall, then Chud does like to go for the kill at odd times (3rd and 2 against NO). Wouldn't surprise me one bit if our green coaching staff is struggling with game management when we have a lead. That's no indictment against the staff, just something we should all be watching for improvement in the coming weeks.

We're getting better and the future is bright, but there's nothing wrong with identifying weaknesses on the team and keeping an eye out for improvement in those areas. I have faith Rivera and Co. will get us there

Judging by the many threads on Cam and barely anyone else, I'd say many of u don't care for the team as a whole either.

Also, I'm not sure what u mean by "pull out random line" but if u mean highlighting what I want to pinpoint in my reponse then, yes, I enjoy doing that.

Just for the record, I saw a thread that stated..."The biggest issue with our offense nobody is talking about." So I opened it thinking that it would be an interesting posting on the offensive team...But it's about Cam. Not one mention of Stevie, Nan, Olsen, or any of the other guys who make up the offense team. And the title is quite ironic because it's says "nobody is talking about." Every other day someone is analyzing Cam's game but not the whole offense. Isn't Cam part of a team?

When I come here, I click on the link that says, Carolina Panthers...U say that I don't care about the team, but the reality is, as an outsider reading this board, 75% of the threads are on Cam. Where are the threads for the rest of the team? Where are the daily analysis of the other players game on a weekly basis? Do u discuss Cam so much cause u like him or do u do it because u want attention.

Maybe u should rename this site the Cam Newton Huddle since the majority of the threads are on him anyway.

Don't be mad at me cause u're not promoting ur team on this board so folks like myself can get a little insight into the other players.

Barely anyone else?? There's a thread on AE, there's a thread on Naanee every other day, there were three threads on Bell the last few days, there's a thread about our injured D players, one about J Stew, and we tend to get at least one thread every 2 days about some pickup or other a fan wants us to make. There are quite a few threads about players other than Cam Newton, but if you don't understand why the majority of our topics involve him, well...

Also, I found it funny that a half an hour after I delete a post because you say you won't disrupt another thread you quote the post and do it anyway, haha.

Most commenting in this thread are basing their judgements off their memory or a stat line.

I challenge you to go back and watch the 2nd half of the Atlanta game with this specific topic in mind.

There was nothing wrong with the play calling. Our run game produced results. With the exception of the picked screen, Cam threw the ball well, and that was a great play by Peters of Atlanta. We had a couple of critical penalties and Byron Bell was getting abused by Abraham.

This whole playing from behind thing vs. ahead has no validity at least against Atlanta.

I don't think the OP was pointing at the Atlanta game at all, actually, as there was only one series in that game where we were ahead. There have been other games, though. Perhaps this is all just an artifact of small sample size combined with inability to account for poor play by offensivelinemen. I do think that Cam is getting more pressure when we have the lead than when we are trailing or tied, as indicated by him getting sacked more often, but that might not be true since I don't have access to detail information on pressure a QB is taking.

If you watch the screen close, the DT recognized it and started dropping back as soon as Cam looked at Williams. You could be right as we may need to run a bunch of different screens so the defense can't recognize it.

What are u snorting...please pass it around.

Have u truly watched ur offense play?

How many guys would u honestly say are SOLID go to guys?

How many solid players did the 99 rams have? Idk 3??? Warner, Faulk, Bruce...everyone is was a role player. U could argue Torry Holt but he wasn't elite at the time

We have a rookie QB, a rookie head coach and the Rams defense was way better than the current Panthers D. The Rams had Warner, Vermeil, better receivers and Faulk.

I beg to differ. Warner was basically a rookie QB. He was bagging groceries the prior season. I seriously doubt they had a better defense if they were giving up at least 20 PTs a game. They outs outscored almost everyone they played

Warner had played a lot of pro football before he showed up on the Rams.
