Saw that when I was reading about the other rule changes. NFL = PFL Pansy Football League. Once a defender has been knocked to the ground he can't make a tackle on a QB unless he completely gets back up. No longer can a player go with force at the legs of a QB.

They should make it illegal for any player to go for any other players knees since theyre doing this now.

I don't have a problem with it, it stops players hitting a QB when they can't protect their legs.

It's easy to say it's a pansy league when it's not your knee shredded by a hit.

Mann, it must suck being a ref. Having to know all these rules and make these crucial calls in live game speed is extremely difficult.

I agree, defensive guys shouldn't go after a QB's knees, but some of the other rules about hitting QB's, they might as well wear flags.

From what I understand, I think they can still swipe their arm at his leg or grap him with his arms but he cant lunge his body below the QB's knees.

I think it's going to make it harder and harder for players to play...having to think about the minutia of these things. If they want to get rid of it, they should just say NO HITTING BELOW THE KNEES...not ok I have to think about if I am lunging, if I am going to hit him with the forearm, etc. Prime example that NYJ guy who about decapitated Boldin last year. That was simply the result of playing football at 100% speed. He can't sit there and dissect, WHILE THE PLAY IS HAPPENING..."well the other DB is coming at 'X' angle, so I'd better veer off or Boldin breaks his face when I hit him".

A defender can still tackle the QB around the feet or lower legs. The rule states that a player can not "hit" a QB at or below the knees. It's actually a good rule. And to answer the question, no a defender doesn't have to completely get up but if he is lunging for the QB he better hit him above the knees.

Buckner pointed out that the rule would essentially allow an O-linemen to knock a guy down and "sit on him" since he wouldn't be able to do anything much from the ground.

We are a year or two away from making it where you cant touch the QB at all. Fans grow tired of the yellow flag flying all game but with rules like this it just makes it worse. Every team will eventually because a pass first team with rules like this.
