He's still not pinpoint accurate like a Brady or Brees type, but his placement is definitely getting better and should only continue to improve as he gets more work with receivers.

Said many times a pass only has to be catchable, not perfect.

That said, the drop in to Smith at the one was perfect.

He's averaging 340 yards per game ( run and pass) and out performs 17 NFL teams total offense by himself.

My overall impression is that Cam starts out games a little like Farve did, so jacked-up that he tends to "overthrow" his passes. As he settles in to the game, his accuracy improves because he's burned off some adrenaline.

The good news is that he's doing this as a rookie, which is certainly understandable, so as he gains more experience he probably won't be as jacked-up at the beginning of games.

I meant to participate in that discussion but didn't.

To me it hasn't been a case of whether we had the lead or not so much as it was he was way better at the start of games than at the end. I attribute that to having to adjust to the rigors of the pro game. A common thing even for rookies who play less active positions than quarterback.

Said a long way back that problem would take care of itself over time.

As the season draws on, the "rookie wall" looms nearer. Others will certainly hit it. Newton may hit it too. But again, that's a short term issue, not a long term one.

I will add his two sideline passes to Smitty, both of approx 20 yds if I remember correctly. Both were absolute lasers to Smitty running full speed, tightly covered, and both hit him right in the hands. Those were definitely Brady or Manning worthy, and frankly, I can't see Brees making those two throws.

And for Fowler, his 8 for 8 wasn't lost to all of us, I mentioned it in a thread yesterday. He actually missed one throw, but the play was called back because we were holding, so the incompletion didn't count.
