It's amazing how much hate Cam Newton still gets...

...from callers on Charlotte sports talk radio. I don't know if it's because so many other fan bases infest this city and just hate because they are asshole transplants, or if it's because our fan base is just totally misguided? It's freaking pathetic.

I think it's partially the fan base, as well as the hate he's still getting from the Auburn scandal.

Haters gotta hate.

Maybe they are afraid that he will lead us to a superbowl? There are very few real fans who have anything bad to say about Cam. He & Beurlien are the only NFL caliber Qbs this team has ever had.

Delhomme did good things for the team, but in his case it was the same as The Golden Calf of Bristol is experiencing in Denver...Foxy's commitment/insanity to stick with the run game is paying short-term dividends, but will not end in a championship.

Go Panthers & go Cam!

I think the Huddle is misguided. I don't think people are hating Cam Newton. I think most people not so obsessed with him can see he's making a lot of game-costing mistakes and it's mainly been the offense that's dropped the ball in the end.

People will stop criticizing him when he leads our team to wins and starts playing the game better. It's that simple. When we win everyone will love him. But most people aren't so damn up his ass that they don't know losing 6-7 close 4th quarter games when your offense has more tries than anyone else in the league isn't the QB's fault and the offense. Or when they see so many things he clearly does wrong.

Just people here. Dudes who expect people never to criticize him think it's hate. But in reality, it's just straight talk. And it also comes with the territory of being the #1 draft pick. And he brings a lot of poo on himself because of the things he says.

He'll be fine if he learns. He can't get better without acknowledging, being shown, or told what he's doing wrong in the first place.

Criticism is fine, it's the NFL. But I still hear a lot about his vocabulary, his mannerisms on the sideline, the f*cking towel on the head bullsh*t, his supposed inability to lead. It's a damn shame.

Unless you are winning majority of your games... fans on local call in shows tend to find anything to criticize a player for... Even A-Rod had to deal with some in Greenbay until he truely proved himself. Heck when I was in Atlanta Matt Ryan started his career strong, but that dude was getting blasted in Atlanta left and right.

Most people calling in are not gonna be your resonable fans who are content with things... it's usually more extremist either one way or the other. But call in callers should not give you the temperature of the fan base as you don't get as many objective callers.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
