Cutler to bears!!!!!!!!

Certainly, you have more game viewing knowledge of the Bears than I do so I don't doubt your observations at all. I will have to chase it down, I can't remember where I saw it, but I think I read that Orton's deep ball accuracy wasn't that far off from Cutler's. I also don't dispute that Cutler's arm strength allows him to complete balls that Orton's does not allow him to though. Either way, McDaniels has already shown that he can win games with a QB who isn't a great deep ball thrower and has a subpar defense if he has a good receiving corps & OL to work with. That describes the current situation in Denver, I think.

I am more trying to convey my opinion that Denver is not suffering the downgrade people might think they are.

The more I think of it, the more I agree. The improvements they can make on defense will outweigh any dropoff from Cutler to Orton - which may not be that much. This deal could be on the level of the Herschel/Manning deals.

Getting to the Herschel level is going to take some doing on Denvers part.

2008 Redzone passing:

Cutler:46% completions, 17 td 4 ints, 74 QBR

Orton: 52% completions, 13 td 1 int, 96 QBR

Orton doesn't put his team in bad spots as often. Like Romo, Cutler is a high risk & possibly high reward guy. Orton is a prototypical McDaniels type QB, Cutler is far from it. That is one of the main reasons I think Orton will be productive and efficient in Denver. Volume #s alone (like passing yards) are not what tells the story as far as QB play IMO.

The first and last one were the funniest. Orton as a gay poodle then a dog who pisses on the carpet? lol

1) I agree with that one guy who thinks they should have hired a defensive HC. Then again, I prefer those in general.

2) I think McDaniels is a good OC (see 2006 for the best example IMO, no more than barely decent or inexperienced in the system WRs, an average RB corps, and a #7 scoring offense) but I didn't think that when he left he was ready to be a HC yet. He will DEFINITELY make that offense more efficient though.

3) He is not that good at handling the press yet. For example, IMO he never should have spoken to the press at the owners meetings about the Cutler situation. So in that sense, he is much much different from his mentor. JUST SHUUUUT UUUP JOSH! He came off as a bit insincere or phony or trying too hard to be convincing or something.

4) He looks like he's about 12. It cracks me up. It's like watching Tom Hanks in BIG.

The part that makes me smile is the frequency with which I hear "The Bears have set themselves back in the future with this trade".

ORLY?

Cutler is 25 years old. 25. Again.....25!

He could be great for a decade, provided the brass figures out how to provide him with some weapons.

The HARD part is finding the QB, and being willing to pay the upfront money out of the draft, the stuff that is a cap killer these days.

psssst....the Bears don't have to do this. The Broncos did that for them! Cutler is going to make less than our starting CORNERbacks that sorta suck! He has already been "groomed". This kinda thing just doesn't happen in the NFL, unless you hire some dbag rookie HC with a Belicheat sized ego.

If he plays well, you'll be right.

If he turns into another Jeff George though (all arm, no brains) there'll be a meltdown of nuclear proportions.

At this point, either outcome is possible.

Now this would have the potential to be entertaining...

PFT: Cutler has reached out to Burress

A quarterback with an agent who has a habit of shooting off his mouth apparently is interested in joining forces with a receiver who tried to shoot off his leg.

According to WSCR radio, via the Chicago Tribune, new Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has reached out to free-agent receiver Plaxico Burress about joining the team.

It’s not a surprise. Compared to Brandon Marshall, Plaxico is a pansy.

I can certainly understand your position, and your elation....however there is a lingering thought in my mind....how long can he play, at a high level, with his diabetes?

I don't know enough about it to answer that question, but that would be a concern if I were an Bears fan. It may not bother him at all, ever, but I really don't know enough about it.
